but i got 9000 in jetman on facebook, which is all that matters.

I downloaded it, played for like 10 seconds before I realized there was no option to turn off the sound, immediately uninstalled.

Unbelievable such a simplistic, **** game missing basic features gets so popular.

Dev is getting 50k day in ad rev and they cuts it god ride the 3week fad out dude in 3months noone will remember this but you'll have a million

Amazing how much rage and hate some people can build up over something like this - first there's a ton of hate and death threats because he made a **** game and then there's a ton of hate because he pulls it... and then Nintendo wants to sue him because the game has pipes in it.

I see a market for a witness protection-like program for game developers.

Yeah, I COULD do that, or they could just add a feature to their game like every single other game on the f'ing planet has put in place on day 1 where you can disable game sounds so I don't have to toggle the sound on my phone on/off every time I open the game.

This 'game' pretty much represents everything wrong with mobile gaming. Original Atari games have more depth and creativity.

In a race to the bottom "Flappy Bird" wins, that's where the hate comes from.

Good for the creator for exploiting the world's stupidity, lots of people have gotten rich doing exactly that.

Sounds like you've bumped into a few pipes, I understand your frustration.

It's a free game. Either you like it and play it or you don't and don't. It costs you nothing but, at worst, a few minutes to find out which one you should go with. For someone to take the time to rage about it and/or send death threats to the guy who made it is completely moronic.

If somebody has some prior/existing attachment to a game - like the new mobile incarnation of Dungeon Keeper which got completely ****ed up by greed, or for a game that used to be good but then got ruined by some stupid developer, then at least there is some reason for getting upset - but for this game, you either play it or you don't. I just don't see why anyone would work up any emotion over this.

I had never played this game and looked for a video on youtube, and it's not just pipes in it. Those are the same size and shape as ones in like SMB 3. He probably copied them exactly FFS.

The funniest part about all of this is that even the guy who wrote it is confounded at how popular it got. It's just some throwaway POS even to him, which is probably why he felt little regrets about pulling it.

They are pipes. There are just so many ways you can draw a basic pipe of that kind.

And even if he did copy the style of a 25 year old game, it was clearly done as an homage since he could've put just about any basic graphic in there without it changing the game any.


Anyway, Nintendo is saying they had nothing to do with any of this and did not threaten anything, so the point is moot.

I don't think hate for the dev is warranted at all. From what I gathered, he knows what the game is and isn't claiming it to be anything else, it took him 2 days to make. He's a hobbyist that made a bunch of simple short games and one of them blew up. He isn't a shameless self promoter and he doesn't use common dirty tricks most iOS devs do.
