This is the thread for all the cool stuff you see players do in pro games where you're like "man, I wish I'd remember to do that more often in my own games". Hopefully posting and reading will drill it into our brains to do it more often. I'll go first:

- baneling landmines in ZvT vs bio. They are SO SO GOOD, especially in my ****ty league where it's not like players are scanning ahead all the time, and I even research burrow in 90% of my games that go macro, but it never occurs to me while playing to burrow a couple banes here and there.
- using contaminate. I always make several overseers in ZvT for mines and they sit on full energy the whole game because I am bad. I'm actually mildly curious as well to try, as an experiment, making like 10 overseers at some point, letting them build up energy, and then flying them in to a T/P base (would only be very good against T if they were going mech, I think) after an engagement to goop all the factories/robos/stargates once or twice in succession; if they can't make units, ez game! But doing that would require me remembering during a game that this ability exists.
- roach drops vs mech, both onto the army and doom drops into the main when they're out of position.

What about you guys?

Spread my overlords over dead space to prevent drops
Burrow lings at non 3rd/4th bases
Get extra static D at far out bases

Add barracks incrementally
Have a bunker at my third
Stop making workers (Zerg mentality)
Get drilling claws
DROP
Make ghosts

Maek colossi (oh wait, I do)

I don't burrow enough lings either, it's so simple to do yet so hard to decide when to spend the resources and/or time to do it when you are normally focusing on something else, yet the cost is so low there is really no excuse for not doing it every game.

One question. I normally burrow my lings close to the mineral line away from where the base would normally be built, because I'm placing them there for information, not to block them (and if they scout it first I know they will be building there soon), I'm planning to use the information that they don't know I have to wipe out their base shortly after it is built and after they have expended more resources than it will cost me to take it out. Is that the wrong way of thinking?

idk making them burn a scan seems pretty good to trade vs 1 ling..

if this is your train of thought, burrowing two banelings in the mineral line seems like a better solution

Sounds like I have been doing it wrong, thanks for the advice.

I can't remember playing a game where I thought: I've built enough dts this game...

Inspired by Revival, in ZvT: flood the high traffic areas of the map (like, platform above the third base on Polar Night, center of the map in Frost, the areas Terran always pushes from) with creep tumors so that T can't push it back as easily. If you make it so that their scan range has 20 creep tumors in it, they'll have to either commit on creep with a larger part of their army to kill it or be way slower at pushing it back. My creep queens usually wind up each having full energy and while I'll have creep going out in all directions, it won't necessarily be denser in one place over another, and there are definitely places I should be putting denser creep.

Split my army to defend drops vs Protoss rather than let them drag my whole army from base to base with 2 medivacs

Inject larvae while microing

Remember that I can actually make a raven for cloak detection instead of just using scans and having no mules

Reminder to self: check out what the cyber core is doing against gateway expands.

Watching a Parting game, he starts warpgate research a full 25 seconds after his cyber core finishes (getting nexus + mship core first) and isn't chronoboosting it. I'm pretty sure his opponent isn't getting gateway all-ined this game. Spotting things like that would certainly make my life easier.

(eta: well, he did do a gateway all-in, but it was like a 10:00 one with lots of gates and not the 6:00 4gate zealot variety which is mostly what I want to be able to spot)

A more general amendment that could just be "figure out what he is chronoing"
