There will be..... but we don't know what form it will take yet ( and definitely no open pvp ).
thx for info. is Beseid going to be the designated 2p2 server?

Just updated from closed beta client, took about 10 mins

The updater/downloader is actually torrent based if you find the filename on the downloader and open it with a torrent client you'll get a much faster download.

torrent file for the main 4gb file should be somewhere like (depending on your OS)

C:\Users\*USERNAME*\Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY XIV Beta Version\downloads\ffxiv-beta\d96437e6\metainfo

the torrent you want will start with H2010 and be like 95kb

if you set the download directory in utorrent to C:\Users\*USERNAME*\Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY XIV Beta Version\downloads\ffxiv-beta\ it should be able to read and use what you already downloaded using the POS dl client

I couldn't get the download page to open a few hours ago. Is there a link to a download torrent or something without having to use the download client first?

holy crap if this whole process is any signal of SE capability to launch a successful game, i say run, run far far away!

i have a beta key, i registered the "ffxiv service", i go to log into the beta site, and im stuck in some ******ed infinite loop where it keeps asking me to sign in.

so i download the client from fileplanet, install and get a "Final Fantasy XIV Beta Version has stopped working", i mean seriously, how difficult is it to do this right?

omfg got home expecting client to finally be finished and see a pop up error 'network time out, download has been stopped' when i was at 99.4%! lol.

i think i will just cram as much NHL11 in before actual launch rather than retry

Notes on downloading: If you locate the torrent files in the patch folder (just search for H2010 in windows search) you can open them in a torrent client and then just copy pasta the files over the .patch ones where they are meant to install. Only took 8 hours for me to install except just an hour ago I was maxing 600kb/sec

/edit Just realised this has been said many times, but it is the way to go if you actually want to play the game before beta closes :P

Yesterday at 10:24 PM Regarding a Character Creation Error: Follow-up 2

Regarding the issue where an error message saying "50002 You do not have a right to create new character." may appear and unable to create a new character during the creation of a new character, we are continuing to conduct an investigation and implement measures. However, it is expected that it will take some time for this issue to be fully addressed.

As a temporary measure, we will routinely remove service account from affected Square Enix Accounts. If an error message saying "50002 You do not have a right to create new character." appears, please wait a while and re-register the service account for FINAL FANTASY XIV to your Square Enix Account.

Also on Sep. 2, 2010, we have announced that you do not need to re-obtain the registration code. However, we have confirmed that these registration codes cannot be used due to technical difficulties. We deeply apologize for this matter.
The above issue has been address and as of now, you are not required to re-obtain the registration code.

We deeply apologize for any inconvenience this may be causing.

Yesterday at 10:15 PM Square Enix Account Management System Congestion: Follow-up 3

We would like to take this opportunity to provide an update regarding the congestion of the Square Enix Account Management System.
At this moment, congestion has eased and the issue is starting to address.

Our technical staff will continue to monitor the situation closely and work to resolve this issue. However, in case you are unable to access the Square Enix Account Management System, we ask that you please wait and try again later.

As part of countermeasures against the congestion, we have temporarily restricted the acquisition of registration code for the FINAL FANTASY XIV Open Beta Test. However, this restriction has been lifted.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may be causing.

Other open betas I have played have been relatively smooth insofar as installing and getting the game up and running.

This is looking to be a huge cluster**** at release.

Yup, thats why I said from alpha/beta experiences, launch is going to be terribad.

That said... they do run a 500k+ subscriber mmo in ff11... you'd think they would be able to get it right... but we're 3 weeks out and **** like this is still happening?

So is this game an MMORPG like Wolrd of Warcraft? Or is a single player video game with online co-op multi-player?
