Not only does it seem like a random choice, but in certain situations it really feels like the player u want is the only one they wont switch to!

When an opponent is bombing down the wing, and you're containing him with RB/R1, all you want to do is select the CB who should be covering the ST making a beeline for the goal, if the opponent is right out at the touchline and you are in the middle, it will literally take forever to get to select the CB, with the additional 1/2 seconds allowing the attacker to get in a much more dangerous position, whereas a couple of seconds earlier if the ST had been covered the winger would have had much less options allowing a tackle to be made as the winger would have had to take on the defender containing him, does that make sense??

Also my sieve of a defense is starting to get to me. hey you are dribbling with the ball - have a great scoring chance unless the CPU bails me out.

use right analog to switch in those sitations when ur trying to be a player whos not (relatively) near the ball

I still think Thiago Silva is average. Hes no where near world class IMO. World class gets thrown around way too lightly in general, but throwing it in his direction makes a mockery of it IMO.

World class should be saved for the best of the best in that position. Sometimes there isnt even a world class player in a certain position in world football. Like right now in CDM, theres not one in world football I would call world class.
