Re: FIFA 12

Nice, that will work.

What are you guys looking at in terms of UT this year? Spending the big $$$ to get the La Liga all star team? Slightly cheaper EPL teams or a mix and match?

Im determined not to waste time and money on Ronaldo/Messi etc and I want to incorporate a few of the prem players I like but I fear that my team will lack pace and we all know that you just cant afford to lack pace at FIFA.

Re: FIFA 12

Do they have the champions league, World Cup, etc in Fifa nowadays? I remember playing it, and being frustrated that those things weren't in the game. How about in the superstar mode?

Re: FIFA 12

They have a manager mode, that includes a european cup but PES got the rights to the Champions League.

TBH, I never play vs the AI anyway, and in gameplay terms INEC between the 2. PES got left for dead years ago.

Perks of endorsing the game I suppose...

Re: FIFA 12

Okay, so I have a few issues in fifa 11.

1. I suck at using strength to keep the opponents away when dribbling
-do you hold L2 and dribble towards them or away from them or what?

2. I cannot for the life of me figure out how the computer uses quick+ SMALL changes in direction
-it's not L2+right stick over quickly, it's not Right Stick right and LS left

Those are the 2 biggest issues I have in getting owned in fifa 11.

Man City were rock solid last year...they might be the best team in '12.

It's sad, but it took me about 10 months of playing to figure out #2. I also think it's a problem that lots of people have. You have to finesse the analog stick. If you want to move forward you don't push forward on the stick as hard as you can, you barely move the stick until your player moves. This will allow you to make quicker direction changes along with the left trigger. It will also prevent a lot of fouls when you challenge for the ball.

It takes a while, id mostly just say practice a lot. Maybe play some games against CPU on the easiest setting.

It's brutal at first but eventually it clicks. Shootin is very subtle and probably the hardest to master.

It's not for everyone but it takes away most of the annoying parts of playing online. There are also way less people playing as 5 star teams in manual games.

To do a manual march you do a custom ranked game and switch controls to manual.

Re: FIFA 12

thanks!

defininitely thinking of moving to manual, sounds awesome.
how are games played in comparison? a lot more slow build-up play and back to the keeper?(more realistic)
isnt the defense overpowered when playing manually? or do more turnovers etc somewhat make up for that?

Re: FIFA 12

There is still a good amount of direct play but I think you can play a possession based game and be more effective in manual games. While direct play still can be effective it isn't as easy as in normal controls so if you are good at keeping the ball and such it can be a big advantage.

The best way to describe it is that you can play multiple styles and if you do each well it can be effective. In normal ranked matches it seems like one style of play always ends up being the norm and what works best.

One of the best things is you can actually pass into space. You can use a through ball pass to your overlapping fullback (or CM joining attack in space) and if you weight it right your guy runs into it perfectly. That is something you miss out on with regular controls. It actually takes skill to make the killer/smart pass.

Defense can be overpowering (one of the main problems in FIFA) but you dont run into as many pressure fiends (they still exist though). If you pass well you can overcome it, it definitely doesn't ruin the flow. Skill moves and ability to beat your man or maintain possession also has more importance (I'm not great at skill moves but close control and taking a pass in a certain direction helps a lot).

It can be really frustrating to learn but once you get the hang of it I doubt you'd go back. I played tons of ranked matches for like three or four fifas and I switched over in Fifa11. I can't play normal controls anymore I hate it.

There aren't as many people playin manual but there is a dedicated community. Sometimes you have to wait 5 mins for a game instead of 30 seconds but it's worth it, for me at least.

Oh and I forgot the best part, when you score a goal it feels awesome. Especially when you put a screamer in the top corner from outside the box.

fifa 12 is no different to some of the different fifas at all. I will wait for a few people to buy it then wait maybe a month before i decide to buy it or not.

Everyone should watch that video and not buy fifa 10.2
