So, some details about FO4 are being released. Based on this:

http://www.cinemablend.com/games/Fal...tem-51312.html

Looks like they'll be going to a Skyrim level-up system. The other major thing is it will be see in Boston around "The Institute" (MIT, in theory).

I'm pretty excited about this.

The source for that article was a post on reddit. Poster has now admitted he made it all up, and the article has been updated to note that. In any case, I am exciting about the next fallout game.

Wow, I was so pumped. =(

FO4 is a game I'll take a week off of work to play.

Wow. Are you serious? Well that f'ing sucks. I don't think the part about it taking place in Boston is incorrect, though. This was talked about months ago.

Please don't let this be a Skyrim-esque leveling up system.

What kind of a slack-dick journalist puts "UPDATE IT'S ALL LIES LOL" at the bottom of the article?

Probably the same kind of journalist that uses Reddit as a source to begin with

In what way/regard? You can just cheat that whole game and I'm the type who wants to be powerful and not waste my time if I can. Basically I want my sneak to 100 I crouched around whiterun or whatever that town was whilst smithing/enchanting and selling back iron daggers w/stam damage.

The leveling system in Skyrim isn't perfect, they could definitely make it harder. I also think you shouldn't be able to level everything up 100%. There should be an opportunity cost to some of skills you learn. They did improve from Oblivion, iirc, like the dead bodies you raise actually have to fight to gain experience. The Fallout leveling system is so weak. I kill two geckos and get the same experience as I do killing a deathclaw.

FML, I almost fist pumped when I saw this thread.

I hope they are making a new ES or FO, but if we haven't heard anything about one yet, even if they are its a year or two away.

I agree that we shouldn't be able to get to 100% on all skills, but the fact is that it's impossible to stop someone given the structure. Fixing xp costs for killing enemies is probably the easiest fix between the options. I don't remember it being that bad with the geckos to deathclaw XP. Besides most your XP came from completing quests anyways.

Fallout 4 has (apparently) been absent from E3 this year. However, behind closed doors, Bethesda gave details and a 37 second trailer for the upcoming Fallout 4. Pete Hines of Bethesda is keeping tight lipped about the 45 minute presentation, but it seems there was a leaker inside who was willing to give this information.

> Fallout 4 has been in development since January 2011 by a small team, as the majority were working on Skyrim.

> As of February 2013, the team working on Fallout 4 is the size of the team which was working on Skyrim. This is due to Skyrim development ending.

> As it stands now, Fallout 4 will release on Xbox One, PS4, PC, Xbox 360 and PS3. However, this is still subject to change.

> The actual announcement for Fallout 4 will come BEFORE E3 2014, but will NOT launch in 2014.

> The expected launch is in October 2015.

> The game is (as of June 2013) 55% complete, consequently, voice actors will be hired towards the end of 2014.

> There is no planned multi-player, but there is a possibility of Co-Op locally.

> The game will take place in Somerville, Cambridge, Arlington (and surrounding areas). The main setting is in a Post-Apocalyptic Boston. However, this area will not be immediately accessible.

> The story is not clear, however, Vaults exist.

> The 37 second trailor starts starts with a half-broken phone sparking. The scene pulls out slowly with the stereotypical music you would hear. Slowly you work out the scene is pulling out of a belltower. As it pulls further out, you see a destroyed town around. This is Boston. Suddenly, you hear the bell chime loudly, and the screen changes black instantly. The words of Ron Pearlman are heard "War... War never changes...". The logo for Fallout 4 appears with the 5 platforms above listed.

I'll believe a new-school Fallout is great when I see it be great.

Seems kinda crazy that the game wouldn't be released for nearly 2 and a half years, but I suppose all of the developers working on Skyrim DLC limited their progress. Bleh, was hoping for a 2014 release.

The S.P.E.C.I.A.L. system is an inherent and very awesome part of the Fallout franchise and it would be a travesty if it were to be dropped in favor of a much lamer one.

Damn your bump. Here're some funnies. I remember this appearing on my radar when it started last December then forgot about it, but apparently the nearly defunct Interplay* started up Black Isle again with a new team and used a sketchy crowd-funding site called InvestedIn to raise money to produce a game called V13, which they never refer directly to as a Fallout sequel because Interplay doesn't own the rights anymore, but they heavily hint at it. Very weird. Here's a Kotaku article on it.

My take is that someone bought Interplay at a garage sale, spent 2 minutes on wikipedia and found their most influential IP, and had their grandson develop a wordpress site to milk some crowd funding dollars.

* This new Black Isle and their own in-house shovelware publisher called Interplay Discovery are their only studios atm. Sad days.
