OK Nevermind I figured it out.

The Upgrade to Research Paper bonus changed the value of the Oil & Gas Reports from 3 to 6. So Each Report gives the (Base Value * Report Bonus). So My Research 2's are producing (4*6*24) every 20 ticks, which comes out to right around 28.8 per tick per center.

If you like this game, you should check out Big Pharma, which has more or less the same gameplay, but isn't designed to frustrate players into buying time warps.

I unlocked the conveyor upgrade, I think it was when I did the 9 ticks/sec chronometer research. It costs 1 trillion, and has all resources packaged into bundles of 2 instead of 1, so it still just handles 1 package per tick, but a package is 2 resources. I think I'm going to idle for a few days until I can buy that for the base factory, then figure out how I want to rework things there. Also unlocked was an upgrade to double analytics center output.

Oh an aluminum is really expensive, so it would let me kill 1 of the metal labs in my 3 labs > 2 analytics centers, but AT WHAT COST. The answer is approximately $48k/tick

Looking at the mega factory and the analytics centers being disasters, think I'm kinda done with this game. :-/

Is mega factory a disaster?

Once you have the engine research, the anaytics centers make sense - gas/oil and metal can both put out 16 reports/20 ticks. Analytics center takes 32 of each every 40, so the setup is much simpler.

I keep expecting the new factories to be larger, but they end up being smaller than the ones before them.

Also the upgraded just seem extremely poorly designed, like you never know when you're going to need to completely rearrange everything because one thing you upgraded suddenly requires additional output conveyors.

okay, got the conveyor upgrade, which helps a lot, and engines unlocked as well. Playing around with some of the advanced upgrades, like electronics/plastics double output for no additional resources. interesting stuff. Gonna have to keep at this a little longer at least.

Based on pixel sizes, mega is bigger than kilo (though kilo is smaller than factory). Both mega and kilo have much friendlier designs for building efficient layouts. And I imagine stuff like tanks (engine + some number of guns + other raw stuff, maybe diesel which would come from oil through a refinery? plus more steel?) just wouldn't fit in most of the buildings in factory.

Also I have noticed that I have an upgrade available that doubles output of plastic and steel (without doubling inputs). That makes my engine lines much more efficient. Already bought them in kilofactory, saving to get them in factory.

just make sure you attach the feeder line going into the sorter 1st into the center lane then click on the sorter and in the upper right hand corner you can choose what you want going to each exit lane from top to bottom or left to right

And it appears sorter is holding some secrets - I had never used one before.

Tank Hull, Tank Turret, Tank, Rocket Hull, Warhead, Rocket, Diesel and Jet Fuel are the only things I see in the sorter dropdown that I don't have. I have 17/25 tech researched, with 5 chronometers to go. Tanks, and I assume Rockets, gets to 24/25. Wonder what that last one is. Maybe like "Clean refineries" or something. Looks like the end game approaches.

Can someone explain to me why my Analytics Center on the far right side keeps jamming up? When I set up the input feed from the analytics center to the research center it will run fine for a minute or so and then for no apparent reason waste will start to come out the wrong line. The input line to the research center is not backed up at all and my garbage is fully upgraded to have a max capacity of 60. As you can see I added a secondary garbage center just in case that was backing up, but at the time when the waste starts going out the wrong line, my garbage centers were only at 20/60 capacity

How many big reports can your Research Center 3 hold, and how many does your Analytics Center put out? It looks like the one to the left of it also got backed up and started sending good reports into the trash, which makes it seem like your line into the research center 3 is backing up.

My guess is you have 40 reports coming out, with room for 32 to come in.

Maybe try adding a sorter so you can control what goes where

I feel like I recently had a similar issue, and upgrading capacity was the fix.

restarted my raspberry pi, which somehow broke my chromium install, and the default web browser can't run the game

guess i learned a valuable lesson about linux: never reboot

edit

trying to install firefox, which i should have known that on raspbian is called iceweasel because ldo what else would it be?

well, it's running, but uses about 3 times as many resources. =-/

Current layouts, making $13.6m and R5.7k/tick. I am not going to bother attempting to re-jigger to get the couple open spaces in factory filled. Kilo is tight AF, pretty proud of that layout as well as the quad analytics going on in the middle of factory.

I have about 3.5 days of research before I get tanks. I do have enough $ for megafactory now, so I guess I'll get that and throw engines at it sometime soon.

Yeah they do. And it's going to take ~250 trillion to get steel output doubled to 24, which is pretty much required to have decent output.

Here is a sneak peak of hell, for anyone interested. You can see why I'd like to double iron + coal + steel output. Plastic, bullet, engine, electronics and gun makers are all maxed out, as are oil, explosives and aluminum buyers and tank assembler. Hull and Turret makers each have 1 upgrade which quadruples output from 1 to 4.



Just under $80mil/tick in this factory. So much steel. And building the lines after the next upgrade is still going to suck because it'll be 48 iron ore, which means going back to 3 conveyors per iron buyer until I get to 1 QUADRILLION for the next conveyor upgrade. To speak nothing of the costs of upgrading kilofactory to that level. I will throw a similar setup into kilo when I get a chance though - now that I have an idea of how stuff will likely need to be laid out I think I can do a better job at focusing certain manufacturing items in different buildings.

I've just stuck with Kilo and Megafactory as my research only centers and use Factory for Income.

I amped up Tanks to 4x Production. The Steel barrier and conveyor issues are quite annoying, but getting down to 1 plastic and 1 Silicon per Electronic is pretty nice.

Currently making $87M per tick and 17k research across the 3 factories.
