Send a steel to the metal lab. The lab outputs a metal report which you send to research center for a lot more research points.

Some small tips

1. You can build conveyors across streets, but not through them
2. But you can build conveyors through grass
3. You can cross conveyors so one good is going NS, and one EW
4. Pay careful attention to upgrades. Unless you completely change your floorplan for a single upgrade, it might be a downgrade.

do conveyors ever get upgrades? I thought this was possibly a bad thing unless you're splitting output

agree about the layout/upgrade tip. I paid for an upgrade that meant you had to use 2 conveyors out of a buyer to get 100% efficiency and it took a while before I figured out wtf was going on. Randomly read a tooltip and thought, Oh, that's nice to know, now.

I save my game when I close it, then when I come back i have a bunch of free ticks saved up for fast mode. Yours not doing this? Do you have your player key saved?

Bought the oil and gas lab after spending my free time travel. HUGE MISTAKE. I don't even have jet fuel/diesel yet so it's pretty much worthless. Shoulda done sorter + chronometer boost

Oil and gas lab is fine. You can get full output from the labs with oil/gas/plastic (1 lab with all three inputs fully supports 2 research labs with first stock upgrade). I'm currently using only oil/gas based buildings and am at $2411/tick and 32.9 research/tick (using 0 sorters). I've bought all of the area that costs under $1billion - I'm wondering if anyone is at a similar level that could provide a reasonable comparison for how efficient my setup is.

Apparently if you just completely close out of the tab it saves up the fast ticks, but if you leave the tab/browser open and let your laptop sleep, that's no bueno and you just pick up right where you left off. Lesson learned!

i have one oil buyer feeding 4 gas research labs, and the thing is tooling along at 20% efficiency with 2 oil buyer upgrades and research lab upgrades at 2 each

i really need 20 research labs to balance that out?

You have to feed it oil, plastic and gas (plus diesel and jet fuel once researched) to get full production.

I've got 2 gas labs being fed plastic, gas and oil outputting to 3 research centers and I'm getting 15.1 research/tick. With my tick upgrades it's still only 380K/hr and the next upgrade in 20 mill Rps so instead of waiting 52 hours to unlock electronics, I am about to scrap my research and just go for pure profit till I can buy the next 2 map sections

I am also going to look into an overhaul of my entire set up to make it more efficient since upgrading my plastic makers doesn't make much sense unless I figure out a way to to feed the necessary resources of each material in the confined spaces of the 1st few sections.

Feed it plastic, dude. One level 2 maker feeds 4 labs at 100%.

Here's what I got. The middle section was pretty recently redone to help get some research going

as you can see, it's a nightmare

lab efficiency stays at 100% even if there's no materials going into it. Just fewer bonus books come out

hovering around 36 research/tick, 7 ticks/second iirc

my fave design pattern is the middle left building, upper left corner. 3x6 area to get a full plastics maker going

Pretty fun game so far. this is nowhere near optimized but whatever, I badly need the plastic seller upgrade and the oil buyer upgrade to save a ****-ton of space. I'll let it bring in $1,222 and 22 research per tick overnight and see where I'm at.

Yeah I do wish there was some way to view the lab efficiency and research center efficiency that actually measured your input/output of materials and reports. You kind of just have to play it by ear

yeah, you 100% get more books if you've got plastic/gas/oil hooked up instead of just plastic

i guess the research per tick is what to watch to gauge efficacy
