Thinking more about it, I'm not sure my start was good. I didn't get admintech/diplotech at all and just developed, if I had gone for Admintech 5-7 I could've gotten Ideas and then maybe no cbed someone in South America to get faster reforms as the colonizers usually colonize Brazil first. I also maybe could've raided all the minors for extra money once I got all the ideas. But it's hard to tell what is better.

I'd imagine you should try to abuse Humilate Rivals for ton of mana since you can probably stay smallish enough to keep them as rivals. No CB'ing a east-coast minor sounds good, since AE is irrelevant it just costs ~200 Admin. Strange it took so long for EU to arrive though.

You can get Australia

Playing non christian is probably the most stupid thing ever.

1. The map doesn't reveal when you don't follow one of the major religions it's literally dark. I fully annexed Brittany and then got both of it's colonial nations and while I was their overlord I didn't even get vision on their lands. I had to steal maps and explore everything, which honestly I was too lazy to do.

2. Nobody allies you and for some reason, they all allied each other. Spain/GB/Austria/Portugal were all allied to each other. And big ass Spain was also defender of the faith so every single war I did I had to fight Spain as well.

3. I have no idea how protecorates work this patch, when I finally set foot into Oceania to get tradecompanies, Majahpit was ahead of me in Tech and everyone else along the coastline was too, so there was no chance to protectorate them till probably the very end when enlightment kicks in.

4. Carpetsieging AI, I mean it's kinda cool that the AI got stronger, but the way they run from you can be absolutely stupid. You run through the whole of Africa after them and if you don't they carpetsiege everything and you'll die.

It's too much micromanagment, at time it feels like sc2 where you have to marinesplit against banelings, then defend multiple drops everywhere. It's just too much of a grind and not fun, it already was a grind last patch but now it feels worse. So gonna stop, really don't feel like continuing.

Funny, played Azteks. Quickly reformed religion 5 times (~1485) but never researched any technology since I was waiting for EU to arrive, instead I'm just developing a lot. I had Feudalism by 1470 everywhere, but I couldn't embrace it :/ Finally in 1555 England settles next to me and soon declares war, I just take ton of loans and intentionally give them one province so I'll finally have neighbor to reform the religion permanently. Instantly went from tech 1 to 10 and became great power XP

I was disappointed there weren't some sizeable institutions changes in 1.19, I love the idea of them but think they miss the mark.

Stopped playing this about 1.5 years ago, anybody here wants to give an update as to what's new since then? I think the latest expansion I remember was about republics, one or two after the one with random new world.

Fwiw this is still my most played game by far, kinda scared to get sucked back into it, haha.

Yeah then biggest changes for you will be development system (tax, production, manpower per province reworked and now can be boosted using admin/dip/mil mana), estates, horde stuff (if you play hordes) and all the recent rights of man changes (great powers, abdication, personalities/traits, queen regents)

I wonder how impactful the new ages feature will be. Last week they described it as the biggest change since launch, I'm not seeing it yet though.

Has anybody else watched the Dev multiplayer series? In my opinion, that was the most entertaining dev clash to date! The only gripe I have is with that they should come up with a different strategy for assigning nations at the start - if you are far away from other player nations, you decidedly have a huge advantage (case in point: Ming and Ethiopia). Not sure what a solution would look like, but they should address that somehow.

Playing a MP game on FHC, joined as Vijay->Bharat after the first session (so like 1495?). I think its around 1580 or so now.

Ottomans terror. I had S Africa and the SE gold area but France stole S Africa from me and told me all of Africa was his, so I sold the rest. Despite having a larger navy (~25 heavies), I had no chance of competing on hand, since he had full quality + full offensive. Turned out to be a blessing in disguise, as I had been getting crushed by rebels down there (lol at primitives churning out 30k+ stacks at 100% autonomy).

I'm currently the #5 GP, but am pretty much a paper tiger

Got For Odin achievement done.

Being Norse was surprisingly annoying. Took a few starts in Ireland before I got an alliance with Scotland and eventually forming Great Britain then allied with Russia to take the Scandinavian provinces. The hardest part was fighting Prussia ~1690. The Germans were sure ferocious fighters. Thankfully I just needed to white peace them to fight the Danish.

Hardest achieve I've done without cheap mechanics (like razing my way to world conquest) so super happy.

The proposed age mechanic is sure getting a lot of hate, it seems cool to me. I like the idea of specific countries getting powerful bonuses in times they were historically powerful.

Wanted to "roleplay" with Netherlands. Started as Holland, formed Netherlands ~1520, converted to worst religion, reformed. It was so painful to switch to Dutch Republic, but I did it since so many of the events are tied to having it. I was the Emperor, so lost that. I also managed to sneak my dynasty to France, but Dutch Republic offed my dynasty. Other than that, it was pretty fun game, probably going to call quits now in 1620 since I'm just too powerful. I have 5 different colonial nations and 4 trade companies providing merchants with rest of Africa, Mexico, North America and SE Asia falling to me in next 20 years or so.
