Yeah I gave them a second chance on EU2 but basically these guys only produce single player games with ****ty AI and they'll never get any money from me again.

re: Europa Universalis 3 - New and Improved! (with ongoing MP game and AARs)

Major Mod Reviews: ( click names for links ). Only mods compatible with DW5.1 ( and that I have played ) are reviewed. Review are written on the fly, I may have forgotten a point or two.

quick note: All mods don't change the vanilla checksum, they just go into a mod folder, making installation just a drag and drop for most ( except MEIOU ). You can keep playing vanilla with them.

MEIOU:

Total Overhaul

Description: MEIOU is the most complicated thing compatible with DW 5.1. It's just insane how much stuff they added. They completely changed the UI ( looks awesome btw ), give you multiple choices as far as maps go and, and added something like 700 provinces ( eliminating all permanent terra incognita ), trying to emulate the world the best they could. The mod also strives for historical accuracy in all of it's events.

PROS:
  1. Awesome graphical Update
  2. Adds Tons of interesting missions and events, you never get bored.
  3. SRI AI ( Sacra Romanum Imperium mod, will describe later ) and HRE mechanics have been added and make the HRE just awesome.
  4. Added nations are really nice
  5. For those who like complexity

CONS:
  1. The map get's confusing especially in the HRE region, because they wanted to emulate the real world. In italy the same applies to provinces like Rome, where the entire province has been renamed Lazio and then given a tiny province insade named Rome. Makes clicking dfficult too.
  2. More taxing on the hardware
  3. Not for those that like simple stuff
  4. Some frustrating localization errors ( not many tho, but I like my game clean looking)
  5. The size makes updating slower
  6. Learning everything all over again.

MiscMod
Vanilla Rebalance

Description: The mod aims to rebalance the vanilla gameplay adding only ( for now? ) minor mods that aim to make the EU3 experience better. This obv includes the awesome SRI mod and stuff like a mod that changes colony names dynamically based on location and current owner.

PROS:
  1. Only minor changes, true to vanilla spirit.
  2. Has custom scenarions that make it an entirely new game. Example: A scenario where the entire european continent has died to the black plague, leaving everyone dead ( but leaving structures and resources intact ). It's up to the rest of the world to colonize the old world.
  3. Dynamic colony names and SRI are always awesome to have.
  4. Adds missions and event, which are always needed, especially for small nations that usually have only generic missions.
  5. Very clean, no localization errors.
  6. Active community, frequent updates

CONS:
  1. None that I can think of right now

OSC MOD
MOD Compilation, Minor Overhaul

Description: This one is kind of a bastard child. It takes the best single mods out there and mashed them together, making them compatible with hard work. While the result is a truly amazing game, sometimes after a new release you get big bugs and localization errors, which can be frustrating. Still worth a try, especially after hot-fixes. This one adds a minor amount of provinces keeping the vanilla map semi-intact, but still removes all terra incognita.

PROS:
  1. More nations is always positive.
  2. The maps keeps a clean look.
  3. Dynamic colonies, more missions, more events, more fun.
  4. Adds the best mods out there, including SRI and various others ( check link ).

CONS:
  1. Sometimes buggy.
  2. Mix and match doesn't always work.
  3. No added scenarios, boooo!

Next on my review List are "Death and Taxes" and "SRI", and "Terra Nova", while waiting for Whole World MOD to update.

Settings all normal, no lucky nations.

My Ottoman Empire in 1423. Just changed my government type to Empire. Sitting with 1830 gold. All provinces I own are cores, have converted everyone but 2 or 3 provinces to Sunni. Infamy is 19 though, mainly from force vassalizing my european friends.

I just bought this game and am working it out slowly. I'd be interested in a MP game depending on timezone and how much I'll suck.

re: Europa Universalis 3 - New and Improved! (with ongoing MP game and AARs)

Something went very very funnily here Note I have lucky nations on random I think.

I am France in this game. This pretty much all happened in the last 20-30 years. I was at war with Austria and punched them to hell thanks so some good alliances, occupying all their provinces and making them release Styria and Tirol to weaken them. Suddenly a crusade ( IIRC ) was called against the ottomans and they were literally destroyed by Venice and split up in a ton of micro states ( they had 4 provinces left ). Venice had conquered pretty much everything until Byzanthium ( obv a lucky nation, no doubt there ) started going crazy and mopped up EVERYTHING together with Transylvania, kicking Venice out.

Note how Austria now has some possessions where the Mumluks used to be. Castille is also going ape**** and taking Afika.

On a last note: LOL Lithuania, wtf have you done with the golden horde?

So far I'd say Lithuania, Byz, Transylvania, Venice and Castille are lucky nations... Possibly Austria too because they sure got back on their feet.

Golden Horde is totally dead, has something like 5 provinces left.

Actually all the Hordes are sucking. Qara Koyunlu & Timurids look to be gone too in the Middle East.

re: Europa Universalis 3 - New and Improved! (with ongoing MP game and AARs)

My Ottoman game in 1461. Just got done bitchslapping the Mamluks. I have the conquer Egypt mission. Get all the original Mamluk provinces for 1 infamy each. I took 10 provinces in the war for a total of 10 infamy.

I have yet to be in a war with any of the major Euro powers. I've had a Crusade called against me since 1403 but no takers (except for Denmark and Sweden, lol thanks for a couple years of free War Taxes). Hungary pissed off Bohemia so they haven't been a problem.

Castille not gonna Castille. They didn't annex Granada off the bat and they still haven't invaded northern Africa. Granada and Tunisia both tried to help out and declared war on Castille but Castille wasn't in the mood I guess.

France had all of France and half of Castille at one point but they have been getting gangbanged by everyone for the last 10 years.

Half of Europe has also been warning me not to go to war but they are all scared of my 60k standing army and are all talk so far. My vassals are Serbia, Bosnia, Corfu, Naxos, Cyprus, Wallachia, Urbina, The Papal States, Aquileia, Sicily, and Crete. I'm allied with half of them as well as Pommerania.

re: Europa Universalis 3 - New and Improved! (with ongoing MP game and AARs)

Ten years later:

France no longer exists. Austria alone made it release 8 nations, leaving it with Ile-de-France and it's Castille/Aragon provinces. None of them lasted very long. Castille also decided to swallow most of Portugal. Austria is HRE and is allied with Bohemia which could prove troublesome.

I took another 9 Mamluk provinces in War #2. Mamluks now have half a dozen unconnected little blobs that I don't see lasting very long.
