Draft is also a ladder, so yes, it will get tougher.

it was bad, i wasn't paying attention in my draft that much and was trying to get a good curve (like in hearthstone arena) and kind of forgot about colors

I realize pretty early on, like my first game that I had a pretty ****ty color situation so I mulliganed very hard for a good curve

Probably also got lucky

You have some sick bombs there (dinomancer, feeding time, valkyrie wings, drake).

Depending on what else you had in justice/primal/shadow, cutting red might have been a good option, but glad it worked out well for you.

Sandstorm Titan can win games by getting board control so easily. I find myself relying on it fairly often.

I had another valkyrie wings but i thought my deck was too heavy.

I just drafted a justice deck and I don't have any of those good cards and I'm really feeling it now

draft definitely gets tougher. averaging like 3 wins in my past few after running through the first ones

You guys ran through the draft?

I'm just going to blame my deck

holy molly

I got this card called "The Witching Hour" in forge. It's a 24 cost 6 shadow mana required. I reached the boss without even seeing it, and then 17 turns in I finally get to use it! but the boss top decks a 8 atk weapon with overwhelm and beat me

Also this card seems very inconsistent, destroy for 800?

yea that card is 800 dust

so is there something nonintuitive to make crafting work? every time the dust disappears and there's no new cards, then when I restart the game I'm back to the same dust amount

Sounds like a bug, that doesn't happen for me.

apparently the tablet version still has some kinks

made about half the upgrades I wanted to my deck. went with just 3 ofs where I want 4 in case I end up seeing the card in a nearby draft plus only one copy of a sweet legendary weapon

World's worst drafter right here!

My best so far is 3-3, but lots of 1 and 2 win drafts. At least no 0 and outs.

Anyone have tips, or good articles? Twitch streams? I can't find anything beyond basic general BREAD strategy, playing for card advantage, etc.

I have tried a a few strategies and it just seems that my opponent always has the right answer.

At the very least, I really enjoy the format for drafting in this game. Low pressure, no wait time, decent price, nice rewards.

Yea I'm not a fan of this mana system.

2nd game in draft, I'm literally one mana away from having my game winning bomb played. Have huge board advantage etc.

brick 5 turns in a row and lose.

Last game broke my mind - I get 3 units with warcry in the first 2 turns and start smashing his face, get him down to 8 health and he puts up a big flyer. I think I must have had at least 20 charges of warcry up. I get one removal spell and draw 12 power cards in a row.

Really?

There's a youtuber called "Pack1Pick1" (or something close) that has the most # of recorded drafts I've found. He seems decent from what I've seen.

If you record a draft I'll watch it and give you pointers (I'm currently Diamond).

happy with this draft especially since the first pack was a complete bust. took clockroach first then saw no decent cards other than one of the GY guys and a vanilla yellow creature. was taking all kinds of colors. then the legendary GY three drop showed up pack two and things got better. still a lot of weakness early but ive got a little stall and tend to think draft favors sticking big fatties like in magic

I'd be interested to see your sideboard there dkgo- some of your 1 drops (humbug/detain/sanctuary) seem really weak, but I guess they help you stall to your absurd lategame.

Regarding drafts, do you always pick best available cards, or once you've started getting a good core do you pick stuff to build around it?

just more cards like humbug, 3 mana 2/2s, and like 15 in the wrong colors

i actually took out the humbug and daggers to put in 2 more powers after losing twice at 5 wins to mana screw. lost going for 7 to a nut draw red/green deck. cant really complain about the 6 win rewards though

I actually like detain a lot as a combat trick.

detain seemed very solid. worst case it buys a good bit of health, best case it blows out a huge creature. i expect most people only think about the +3/3 when you have G open

For the first 3-5 picks you usually want to pick the best card in the pack. If the cards are close, pick the ones that are same/synergize with existing picks. Also give priority to cards that are a single color requirement (over double colored/multicolored).

Mid-late pack 1, I will grab anything that is a high-value card going super late (something like a 7th pick torch), since it might be a signal that color will be wide open in pack 3.

If you open a bomb in pack 2, you can usually pivot into that color. Obviously depends on what you've already picked up.

Basically keep your options open packs 1-2 (but try to focus on a color pair), then try to commit solely to that for packs 3-4.
