I won 15 ranked in a row last night with a big combrei deck. Try that. Only strictly loses to any of the obliterate/impending doom decks. Silence and going wide are both great right now.

Big Combrei remains pretty unassailable, Icaria is the first deck I've played that holds up well against it (lots of sweepers and big weapons). I don't have one because I don't have enough of the legendaries needed. My other decks rely too much on card effects and have been getting crushed by silence.

I'm saving up for big combrei right now, just trying to get by with Rakano plate/Dawnwalker/sacrifice decks.

the meta overall feels pretty good to me right now. i can get in a 10-20 game session and not feel like im playing against the same thing over and over

Big Combrei seems to be the most popular but overall I agree, there are a bunch of different archetypes in the meta plus a lot of interesting one-off decks.

Wasn't very happy with a draft deck I made, ended up 6-3.

Shows what I know

Latest tournament results are also supporting the fact that the Meta is extremely good right now. So many different decks getting into Top 16 each week.

Guys on reddit will of course always find something to complain about, but as DKGO suggested, playing on the ladder and encountering so many different decks is very refreshing compared to other CCG's.

I am averaging a robust 1 win per draft in my last five, not sure what is going on other than committing to a color early and then getting powerful rares from other colors in my last 2 packs, but mostly just building poor decks.

Going 1-3 doesn't really mean you're doing anything wrong. The MMR makes sure every player has a 50% winrate, and it's pretty easy to flip a coin 4 times and get three tails.

My ranked queue is good, but my draft queue is getting 2 min waits between games. When I finally get a match, it is often a T100 ranked drafter and 10-20% of the time a T10.

Is draft barely populated or variance?

Variance imo - last day I drafted I got my matches within 10 seconds whereas ranked was taking 30+.

my 6-3 draft could have ended very badly, I started 1-2 and the 4th game was close at the end.

right now I'm doing a draft that doesn't look very promising, and I lost two close games

Yeah with the cost of cards so low it's fun to experiment with different decks. Magic meta is rarely this diversified. There's always enough of a rock-paper-scissors element that no deck is safe.

Decks I see most often, in order:

Expensive combrei
RP beatdown/burn
RGp armory
YR weenie with the new promo +1/+1 dude
maiden control

then the rare one offs:
YP weenie/recursion sometimes with beasts
glimmer
gorgon recursion
expensive control with draw effects, staff
clockroach
echo/sigil
power combo

ive seen just as much feln and RGB as traditional armory as of late. armory is too bad against all the go wide decks

Last week LocoPojo wrote an article about a Worldpyre Phoenix/Crown deck and then I ran into him playing it, which was cool. Also I won - he didn't pull a crown until it was too late.

Probably the best 1-3 draft I've managed thus far.

Is it me? That decks looks awful to me, so many barely playable cards.

seems mediocre especially for three colors

It would be a pretty decent defensive framework if you had some big bombs or an Obelisk to finish the game with. As is, it just looks like you are lacking any real win cons unless you get Warcry's and Ageless Mentor in all the right places.

3 Karmic Guardians == Trying to grab any weapons I can get my hands on.

Rebuke is generally a skip for me unless desperate. It'll save the game some days, but usually you are just 0-1'ing yourself.

It felt really similar to another draft that I got seven wins out of.

Turns out the top end of that deck was just slightly stronger.

I definitely agree that the rebuke wasn't necessary here. Guess I just autopiloted and left it in there since I was playing combrei and didn't have any dispels. Only other weapon I had available to me was stalwart shield, which seemed pretty wasted on the units I had available.

Probably needed that reality check since I have this association of karmic guardians = auto wins.

Spoiler:
poor opponent played Crystallize and Venomspine Hydra that game. It wasn't even close to being close.

Playing some Praxis Token and so far its devastatingly effective...I'm not sure I've gotten past 5 or 6 turns, just running over everything. And it's cheap to make. Might be time for lightning storm to make its way back into the meta

Edit: well nearly lost to a mono fire deck because I couldn't figure out a ticking grenadin with a katana and a couple of combat tricks...

Lightning storm isn't in the meta? I run two in any blue deck I make. Praxis token is so obnoxious, and I see it fairly often on ladder.

I saw LocoPojo's Unkillable dream deck on youtube. It's a great deck on ladder that finally got me 10 ranked wins in a row. It's probably the most enjoyable deck I've played on eternal.
