Eternal CCG (rip hearthstone) Eternal CCG (rip hearthstone)

Available on Steam. Out for just a few months so get in on the ground floor.

From my experience combines the visuals of hearthstone with better magic-like gameplay. Has a legitimate single-player campaign to get you into the game, I was able to pick up all the mechanics within a few rounds.

Anyone who plays seriously or just a new influx of worn out hearthstone players for now?

Whats the best value for ramping up your collection early? Reddit says drafting but you need to save up 5000 gold first (I only had about 3K after the campaign and one game and just bought packs, maybe you shouldnt do this)

You should also give Shadowverse a try. The art style is a bit waifu so YMMV but the game mechanics and overall polish are very nice.

Ive seen it but I only have the time for one other game on top of mtg and overwatch. honestly shadowverse could have the best mechanics in the world but was never going to get into it with the ridiculous anime theme

Looks interesting.

Any thoughts on what the monetization of this game is like, or will be like?

I've been itching for a new CCG. I am tempted to get back into Hearthstone but staring down a ~$200 or so cost to get myself even SORT OF caught up on the latest sets is a bit of a daunting factor.

I don't mind spending money, but I want to make sure this isn't another "spend $200 for tier 1 decks" type game like Hearthstone and HexTCG turned out to be?

Number 1 question for CCGs, are there reactions (can you act on your opponents turns) and if so how are they handled such that they don't slow the game's pace to a crawl like magic?

I've been playing for a week or so.

Def don't buy packs, its horrible value.

Forge is like HS arena, you pick 1 out of 3 cards 25x and then play AI for rewards. It seems amazing value at least for the first few times you rank up, especially because you KEEP ALL THE CARDS YOU PICK. So for 2.5k gold you get 25 cards + actual rewards. Apparently AI difficulty keeps going up as you rank up, so eventually its not as good value. However, I'm up to gold rank now and am getting around 2k+ gold and 3-5 packs when leveling up.

Gauntlet seems p solid too, not as good as forge/draft, but still great way to grind rewards. I was having success with a homebrewed red/yellow tokeny deck after campaign.

Yes, there are "quick spells" you can cast, you can react after an opponent attacks. Defender declares blockers. So for example, opponent attacks with a 3/3, you block with a 1/1 and cast a quick spell that gives +3/+3 on your 1/1. Or you can cast torch (3 damage 1 mana, OP) and kill it.

Saw this on reddit (not sure if 100% accurate but seems about right):

Bronze Chest: Common Card and 30-60 Gold, Chance of Silver Chest
Silver Chest: Uncommon Card and 200-250 Gold, Chance of Golden Chest
Gold Chest: Booster Pack and 500-600 Gold, Chance of Diamond Chest
Diamond Chest: Booster Pack, Premium Card and 2,000-2,400 Gold

The rank up chest in gauntlet is ~250 gold and 1 pack.
The rank up chest in forge is ~1000 gold and 2 packs.

To get a rank up chest you need 7 wins.

Every chest you get apparently has a 10% chance to upgrade to a chest 1 rank higher as well.

Yeah I'm playing this now - it's amazing for a magic player who couldn't stand HS

For beginners you're supposed to play gauntlet/forge until master than take a shot at ranked/draft

had a lot of fun with my free forge run and working on building collection/doing quests through gauntlet. AI is very very solid

feels like what magic online should be. can tell guys like LSV were involved

I grabbed it. Only played through to earn first starter deck so far but it seems good. MTG with a Hearthstone interface basically.

If I'm reading correctly and you can draft and keep all the cards, and the premium currency cost of doing so is only ~$2.50, than it should be quite easy and cheap to build a collection even outside what cards are already thrown at F2P users.

I read that people are worried that the game is TOO giving and that it won't be profitable.

It's $5, unless you're referring to the prizes going back into another draft

I have enough to build almost every popular deck after 2 months and no money

Oh, ok, I just looked at Forge and saw the gem amount. I thought they were the same just vs AI and PvP. But now I read further into that and Forge uses 25 cards vs a full Draft using 4 packs.

I guess that's only a bit cheaper than drafting in Hex, but still a lot better than simply cracking packs.

I spent $0 in the closed beta and had a full collection in a couple months. I've spent $0 since it moved to steam and have a good collection. Incredibly easy to build one. Game is great.

am i right in understanding that for f2p i should complete the campaign first? the other game modes appear to cost some resource that i have 0 of

edit: i'd like to play against other players rather than AI ASAP

There's a beta for iOS somewhere if I recall correctly. You'll have to use the Googles to confirm

draft is legit. paid 5k gold, got back 7K gold + 4 packs + all those sweet cards! some of that might have been the first draft quest reward

How does it compare to Hearthstone? How about Shadowverse?
Eternal CCG (rip hearthstone) Quote

it is better than hearthstone imo, both in gameplay and structure. there is a true single player mode to get your feet wet and start building a collection. gameplay feels smoother and faster even with instant-speed reactions.

i havent played shadowverse but can say this game doesnt have huge anime tits everywhere so you could play it in public or with other people in the room

I've been playing this game for like a month. The comparison between Hearthstone/Magic is used a lot, but very accurate.

The F2P model is VERY generous. The daily quests/rank up rewards/etc just poop out rewards.

One downside is completing the campaign (20 vs AI games) sucks.
