Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Dumb question, being that I'm 50 something hours in already, but if I have a glass bow with 32 dmg using nord arrows with 10 dmg, if I shoot somebody does that mean it does 42 dmg (not counting any sneak, enchanting, or poison bonuses)?

Casting gets dumb late in the game because the most powerful spells are a lot weaker than the best weapons. The strongest character will be someone with strong enchanting and smithing skills to create bad ass one handed or archery weapons.

This is what keeps casting interesting. Combat can quickly become incredibly one sided (boring) as you get to higher levels, especially by abusing sneak mechanics or more than 1 of smithing, alchemy, or enchanting. Casting allows a much deeper pool of actions at any stage of a fight, and Ive found remains interesting and challenging much longer than either a traditional warrior or, especially, sneakthief.
The thing about an unbalanced one player game is there isnt much appeal in becoming "the strongest character," and in fact pursuing that goal can easily lead you to a less enjoyable experience imo.

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
I've come across an interesting Dragon glitch in Riften. I had noticed for my first 100 hours or so It was one of the few towns that never saw a Dragon attack (Whiterun has only had 1 as well). However a few hours ago a I fast traveled to Riften and boom there was a dragon stuck in the town kind of floating back and forth between buildings. I could search him, but he still had skin, no bones and no loot. Very weird. Is this a common bug?
I've seen Dragons stuck in buildings before, but they disappeared and I was able to loot them. This one is a little different.

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
What is a great place to learn about this game? Is there one wiki in general that kicks ass? Is there an elitist jerks skyrim type site out there?
Is there a way to quick swap between certain weapons and spells? I was kind of enjoying the Mage, but I hated always having to stop the action to change spells every few seconds. After reading up on thieves a little more I may try an assassination build or one close to it. I don't fully understand when or why to use a bow or how to get a good sneak or surprise attack or whatever.
Is there any way to reset your skills after you spend them or are they locked in? Is there a good site that shows various skill allocations and such?
Is there supposed to be a little movement lag when in third person? I turned gfx off ultra high and the game runs much more smoothly, but there's still some noticeable delay between hitting keyboard movement keys and seeing the response on screen. Not so when I turn via mouse, though.

Favorite your spells in the regular menu, then close it, press q, it opens a favorites menu, here you can bind your favorite weapons/spells etc.
I have bow on 1.
Onehanders on 2. (daggers)
Fireball on 3
Healing on 4
Different summons 5,6,7
Rocking full glass armor and glass weps!
As long as you dont mix weps and spells you wont have any trouble swapping in between, doubleclick eveytime to get the spell u wish for in dualcast, same with dualwield. Bow and 2hander obv only need one press.
If ure rocking like onehander shield u have to like press 2 or whatever wep ur assigning ur wep to Then q equip shield in other..

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
So I should use two daggers, not a mace in one hand, dagger in offhand?

I'm not aware of one other than http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/T...olls_V:_Skyrim, which has yet to disappoint when I'm stuck or otherwise need help.
Also, KHAJIT4LYFE. I can't get enough of the guy saying "you'll make a fine rug, cat!" right before I kill him.

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Think it might finally be time to move past my Nightengale Armor and Weapons. They were good for 30-40 hours, but Ancient Dragons are taking a while to kill and one blast of breath really hurts me. Should I bother moving to Daedric in Smithing (I'm at Dragon right now) or are Glass Bows and swords good enough?
I'm still only at 50ish in Alchemy and Enchanting, but 100 in Smithing.
