Yeah Blizzard declined to list D3 for this year, but they have been quoted as saying they still 'hope' to release it this year. I wouldn't hold my breath, though.

Responding to questions from Kotaku about whether Diablo 3 could come out this year, Pardo said “we really, really hope so. That’s our goal. Our goal is to get there. But you know, at the end of the day, we are going to get it right. That’s more important.”

“We’re going to promise, we’re going to get it out there when it’s awesome. And, we’re crossing our fingers, maybe it will be this year.”

Awesome. I'm glad this didn't get announced till after I quit WoW.

I might have to do this on PC since it sounds like most people said that was the way to go for Oblivion. Even though I played Oblivion on the PS3.

Derail! Is Oblivion better than I gave it credit for when I dismissed it for not being Morrowind? I mean for those who have finished it would you say I'm missing out on something really good?

I loved Oblivion. I didn't finish the main storyline but I did most of the random stuff to do, Brotherhood quests, expansion content. So I didn't "finish" the game but I got the the point where I was OP enough that I could walk in to pretty much anywhere and own. At that point I would walk around the world and just explore some dungeons and clear out zombies etc.

I found oblivion to be really good, especially with some vital community mods and the expansion that adds the insanity island ( the "non-knight of the nine" expansion, can't remeber the name )

edit: shivering isles is the name

All the fast travel, standard setting, additional player helper features... I dunno. Morrowind dropped you into the world and it always felt like there was some undiscovered thing around the corner that may even be interesting. Oblivion felt.. not that. But I'm still hearing about people starting it up and really enoying it... so maybe I am missing out.

As I said, community mods are vital imo. I hated the fact that every single critter leveled up with you ( wtf at rats becoming uber-strong after you level ); really pissed me off. So some mods were some serious gosends.

Natural Environment, Natural Wildlive, Oscuro's Obliovion Overhaul and the unoffical patch are my favorites. Add shivering Isles and you just lost a month of productivity.

Also, you do realise you can just NOT USE fast travel, right ?

I never played Morrowind.

fast travel was nice because it allowed you to advance some of the story (i.e. side quests) as fast as you want. But like I said, I still spent a lot of time wandering around the countryside just happening upon whatever dungeons were out there.

It was nice to have the option, that's all I'm saying. If you're in the mood to wander, then wander, if you're in the mood to see what happens when you murder person X and only have 10 minutes till you have to go, you can still get it done.

Well ya but it's not the same as having to use the big strider things like before! It was cohesive within the game world! Cohesive!

The little random stuff in the countryside was just cooler in morrowind. feels like they didnt spend much time on it for oblivion.

Wowww trailer looks amazing, some of the environments just look incredible in that trailer, hopefully that kind of style is pervasive throughout the game world b/c one of my few critiques about Oblivion is that despite the amazing graphics, Cyrodiil seemed kind of generic on the whole.

Oblivion was awesome, and I played it on 360 w/o the community mods that almost undoubtedly make it better. I did like Morrowind more, but every Elder Scrolls game is so amazing that saying so isn't really taking much away from Oblivion.

The must have mod for Oblivion is Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul. The dude that made it got hired by Obsidian because of that mod.

If you've already played the game in the past, it is worth playing again with that mod because it makes it a completely different experience. That plus a couple of the best graphics mods makes the game great even compared to the newest RPGs.

I still remember my first few hours playing OOO. Everything just felt right. That guy definitely earned his job at Obsidian.

What did the Overhaul actually *do*?

Got rid of level scaling AFAIK. One of the most overrated greivances in any video game, imo.
