Is it okay to spend all your gold on packs or arena tickets as soon as you get 100/150 or is there something worth saving for? I saw there is a "Madhouse collection" in the store for 1500 gold.

How does ranked play and rewards work? I'm familiar with Hearthstone. It seems you start at rank 12. At 3 wins you get gold? I saw an icon of a pack too so do you get a pack as well? How many wins until you rank up? Is there a "legend" rank like Hearthstone or you just stop at rank 1?

Still no date for a mobile client release (it was supposed to have been December)

In the official release announcement when the game left beta, I think they said early summer for mobile. Tablets before that.

They have had sponsored streams, with Numot, Amaz, Kripp, Savjz, and Hafu.

Tablet release should be coming at the end of next week and early summer for phone releases.

There's also a new expansion being released in early April

Having played both this and Eternal I prefer this, but it still needs more to compete with Hearthstone

They facebook feed posted that it's now available on iTunes but I just did a search and don't see it yet.

If anybody is still playing they just started a pretty generous Twitch promotion called drops. Essentially you link your Twitch account to your ESL account, and when you're watching participating ESL streams they randomly give you stuff.

I've only been doing it like four or five days and they've already given me in total 2 free card packs, a free arena ticket, a legendary card pack (has a single card, a legendary) and 1500 free dust.

Not sure if there is any rhyme or reason to it or if there's a way to increase you chances. I just find channels that advertise they are doing drops and then park in them, you don't have to like participate in chat or even watch, just be in the channel.

That's a pretty cool giveaway. I should probably stop my angry protest over no iphone app and take advantage of it.

First major expansion came out today.

The drops program is continuing, I've gotten like 1500 dust for 4 straight days now, it's amazing, I've pretty much crafted every worthwhile card in the classic set at this point.

Apparently the tablet app is already out and the Android mobile app is in beta (a select few people are using it) and you can preregister to download it for a free legendary. Will probably be out in another few weeks. No word on the iphone version though.

It's amazing how ESL is just as much fun to play as HS but HS is way more fun to watch.

This is still happening and still awesome. I got 3000 soul gems and 600 gold over the holiday weekend just by leaving my browser logged in to CVH's channel.

I also got a quest last night which was fairly easy to complete (attack opponent 30x) and the reward was THREE packs. They appear to be aggressively making it easier on F2P'ers to get into the xpac.

The 3 pack quest has been going on since the expansion launched, every single day.

Over the past 2 weeks they've basically given me almost the entire collection at this point.

I've used their gold and dust to buy the entire Dark Brotherhood adventure, buy all the special 500g packs, and craft just about every epic/legendary of note I was missing.

That's awesome. Hopefully I can stay on the gravy train long enough to be in that position. I'm still missing an assload of cards (mostly epics ldo)

Might try to get back into this, so annoying that they still don't have a mobile client for android. TESL and eternal could have stolen a lot of HS players over the last month or 2 since the meta is so stale, but with the expansion coming they are about to miss their shot.... again. Was the same thing before ungoro when it was 24/7 midshaman and people were exploring other options.

There's like pre-registration for the Android one, you get a free legendary if you do so somehow supposedly. I'm hopeful it will be out in the next few weeks.

Got my first 9-win solo arena run yesterday with easily the best deck I ever drafted. The first 7 wins were cake walks, then I ran into some dragon who thumped me twice before I eeked out a win on the third try and the boss was a breeze.

CVH said on stream the other night that if you are F2P and struggling to fill out the collection you should concentrate on arena, but I assume he meant maybe vs. arena instead of solo because even winning 9 games in solo I did not get enough gold back to compensate for the cost of the arena run. I've never won 9 in vs. arena so idk if the rewards are better.

solo arena awards pale in comparison to vs, 9 wins solo rewards are like maybe 5 in vs i think?

Guy on the subreddit posted his twitch drop rates for the last month, just ridiculous

I'm logged in 24/7 to CVH, who in turn hosts others. I'm not getting rewards every day. Not sure what I'm doing wrong, maybe hosted feeds don't give drops and you have to be on the person's Twitch page?

Also some nerfs just came down

It has been decreasing, seems like it was on a 24h timer. I've been getting one a day or so.

Also, nerfs seem ok, although I'd like to see some blue staples nerfed in some way because blue is hella op

I still get one every 25-28 hours, have since the beginning. Right at about the 24 hour mark I load up 2-3 ESL streams and just leave em open till it pops.

The only thing I noticed was that the Soul Gems reward (IMO the best one) seems to have gotta way less frequent. Early on I was getting it regularly and I haven't gotten it in at least 10 days. Gold was arguably the best when I had adventures or decks to buy with it, but at this point in terms of value 1500 soul gems is def the best.

Maybe just variance but maybe not.

I've been trying to make a warrior deck because I got the werewolf deck for free, but turns out the werewolfs kind of suck. The only legitimately good one is circle initiate because its a prophecy and often a 2 mana 4/3. The rest range from playable to meh, you can occasionally get off crazy boards with initiate into a 3 drop and activating both, but it can be hard to get them to activate when you need your minions to fight for the board against other midrange or aggro decks. I think they need to be a little higher statted or have the activation method changed, you are already at a disadvantage having to play them before popping a rune, leaving you open for prophecys. For example, aelas huntmate is a 4 mana 3/3 with beast mode +1/+1 draw a card, so even activated its a 4 mana 4/4 draw a card which is decent but not great. Grim shield brother is a garbage 3 mana 2/3 unactivated, and a 3/4 drain in beast mode is strong but still seems worse than other 3 mana options like mammoth/haunting spirit/mighty ally.

On the other hand, sower of revenge might be the most low key OP card in the game even though apparently no one plays warrior. 5 mana 5/5 guard deal 5 damage to face deathrattle p good, doesn't die to lightning bolt, if they jav it thats 5 to face, and if its silenced its still a 5/5. That card alone makes me want to keep playing warrior. Seems like the best move is getting rid of pretty much the entire werewolf package besides circle initiate and going with overstatted early/mid cards that don't need activations, like minibot, mammoth, haunting spirit, garnag/reive, and try to curve into sower/jarl. Unfortunately you then run into the problem that the red/purple late game cards seem pretty bad. Jarl is good if ahead but still just a 6 mana 4/4. Belligerent giant is great but understatted and just got nerfed. Aela seems meh. Purple legendaries seem too slow, maybe nahagliiv but its still just a 7 mana 7/7. Could also potentially play some drain/breakthrough cards and unstoppable rage, haven't played around with that yet but would require a huge retool.

Only played 5-6 games around rank 5 so not really tested much. Basic gameplan is fight for board with overstatted 2/3 drops, hope they are forced to use removal so then your 4+ drops smash them in the face. Most of the other similar decks use ulric's zealot at 4 which just seems like a bad card to me but maybe I'm missing something. Lumbering ogrim dies to lightning bolt but the payoff if they used removal on your 3 drops is much greater than zealot. Other decks also have mighty ally at 3 despite often running 12+ purple cards which just seems subpar given its only getting activated ~70% of the time.

Of course other option is just going mono-red with sowers, gives you 100% ally activations but then you miss out on minibot/mammoth/spirit which seems like the strongest 2/3 drops in the game.

meh deck sucks, not fast enough to justify playing over mid archer/sorc/mage, and all of those have strong legendaries to top off
