Wouldn't surprise me to end up with a custom Gear-like "powered by Oculus" XboxVR headset for actual VR, and Hololens support obv.
Seeing as how they are already partnered with Oculus for Xbox One (virtual theater, anyway) support, and now Vive, I don't see the point of designing yet another headset. Carmack was on stage with a Gear because you can buy Minecraft from Microsoft for Gear right now. It's really good, btw.
I fully expect them to support both Vive and Rift. I just have no desire for roomscale VR at the moment, so it would be Rift for me.
They don't really 'have' Hololens. They just began selling devkits a couple months ago at a cost of $3000. I'll be very surprised if we see it before 2020.

Another angle is that with Play Anywhere and Rift support on PC - isn't the Scorpio hardware redundant?
It wouldn't be redundant for me as there are a number of multiplayer games that I prefer to play with a controller on console. I have hundreds of hours in BF4 on PS4, for example, and passed on paying $5 for it on PC the other day lol.
