DOTA 2 DOTA 2

It is indeed a UMS for SC2.

They scrapped their first attempt and this is the second. It's supposed to be ultra-polished. But there will not be nearly as many heroes.

yeah i think we saw on the panel there were like 4 x 3 heroes or 5 x 3

I heard about this in the past but never paid attention to it. I think this is what you guys are mentioning? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lSoBelS_mtc . I do see the 4x3 panel of heroes which is obviously nothing...

On a side note leo, QOP, and brood were added into the dota2 beta so it seems like they are trying to add heroes at a decent constant rate now. Unfortunately these new additions are unlikely to get any playing time since captain's mode only uses heroes who have been tested for bugs thoroughly.

lol at Blizzard releasing their own version of DotA. It's going to suck complete balls.

Can't wait for DotA2. Really want to get back into DotA and starting scrimming asap. Want to get back to my best and right into that competitive scene.

Don't think Blizzard DotA is a serious attempt at all. It's more like a custom map designed to show off the custom map editor... like if you look at any of the sample custom maps they released WC3 with originally, they are very simple, not deluxe/awesome like their real games. (I think SCV football in Starcraft was one of these)

Emails have been sent out today asking people to fill out surveys for dota2. They are going to start mass inviting people over the next few weeks.

Filled out survey. I'm hoping I have a good chance of getting in because my video card is the exact card they list for recommended requirements, my processor too i think.

I'm playing on a laptop with somewhat peculiar hardware (which should still be able to run it) so I really hope that's my ticket in after filling in the survey. One time!

Bastards, where is my survey?

For those, like me, who figured that they would get e-mails with survey info; that is not the case. Go to dota2.com and find a link to the survey for your chance at the beta.

Any 2p2 players who don't have 2 people to hand out their extras to, I'm always game for some dota. =)

You can have mine if I get in. Got the email for the survey yesterday so I'll let you know if I make it.

Any idea what the system reqs are gonna be? My 3-4 year old laptop plays LoL fine but I get the feeling that won't the case for Dota2

Not to **** in your lunchbox but in the first few rounds of betas they want people without the recommended specs to test the game against "unique" hardware.

As someone who plays LoL very casually (maybe 1-2 games a week), am I going to enjoy DOTA2 or should I just stick with LoL? Also, from my understanding DOTA2 is just one flat fee for all the characters, correct? No MT like in LoL?

Nobody knows what the financial model is going to be for dota2.

But I would be SHOCKED if they limited the hero pool like LoL does and made you pay for them individually.

I predict Valve makes a metric ****ton of money by just selling hats and skins/special weapons for the dota heroes.

I don't see how they would not eventually implement every hero plus additional ones. It has been made clear multiple times that icefrog wants dota2 to be exactly like dota except on a new platform.

Apparently also the beta originally had maybe 200 servers but now it has around 2200.

look at how HoN does it, they rotate what free chars you can play, I bet Dota2 will follow this example.

The reason I do not think dota2 will follow that model is because they want it to be a competitive game. Free 2 play games are not as competitive from what I've heard. It also makes sense for them to not be. In my opinion making dota2 one of the most competitive esports of the future is a better way of generating revenue compared to free2play.

It's impossible to have fun playing a game like this, way too many nerds that take it way too seriously.

I usually played dota with a premade group of 3 or so.

That's the best way to do it imo.

If we get enough 2p2ers into the beta, I'd definitely be down to partner up. I have absolutely no problem guiding any noobs who want to learn, either.

At least, I got no email.
