Played a bunch of IR party placement matches yesterday. After weeks of IR solo giving me 3 nosepicking, abandoning, mid-or-feed every game, the hiddenmatchmaker beleives I am actually a 500mmr player (where it placed me after winning the first party placement match I think, I am still 'tbd'). Played like spectre (gangbanged every teamfight and a bunch of global solopickoffs), pa (16-3 or something) and someone else. Every game was so hilariously fun. Actually felt like I had some control over the matches. Won every one ofc. Probably need to try harder and get out of 1k mmr, **** is scarring my soul.

serious question, do you know how to animation cancel? like, right click -> after attack launched, move command -> right click

works for spells too. what it does is cancel the backswing animation and allows you to do more in a smaller period of time

there's apparently some "glitch" where you can buy 2 of the battlepass bundles instead of just 1.... i'm betting they're making full use of "valve time" to fix that one

Abed first 10k MMR. Insane how the top MMR has inflated so much since the introduction of ranked.

yep, Crescendo got rekt... mousesports too didn't make the cut FeelsBadMan, i really like that team but they've yet to recreate that major magic

wtf is Planet Dog, ah looks like euro pub star team... would be highly interesting if they made it to TI, though i hope valve makes that one guy change his name :X (euro insensitivities in US is high potential for some really bad press for our game)

i'm very torn on this Complexity team, DeMoN being one of my favorite players. i guess i like everyone except swindlez lol, okay i can root for them

o ye ye ye, ur right. alright mousesports has good chances.

every game is actually super important in these quals because the top seed in the group goes directly to TI PogChamp (except for CIS/SA regions, only 1 spot in those regions)
^ explains why these teams are being so calculated in their play right now, it's time for serious dota haha

GrandGrant might actually be one of the best color/analyst guys. highly enjoying this KotL/GG cast. Grant knows more high level dota since he is friends with all the people and plays decently well, but he's also really good at translating that info for the viewer

Grandgrant is a genius if for no other reason his main gag is drinking sodas and **** which is obviously the easiest way for an esport person to monetize (product placement). Pretty sure monster going to give him a heart attack in the next year or two. I do enjoy his casts, both entertaining and knowledgeable. TBH, his solo stream stuff is better cause he can say all kinds of stuff that esports will probably never let him say again. Inb4 actionslacks v2.

Been practicing attack canceling and it wasn't too obvious at first, but then when I went back to not canceling it was slow as balls. I guess the main idea is to figure out the exact timing that doesn't cancel the attack, and hit stop=>click attack again as fast as possible?

yep pretty much. what i do is just listen/look for when the attack is launched and then click as fast as i can after that. eventually you get into a rhythm for each hero.

also don't hit stop to animation cancel, instead use a right click move command to perform the cancel. this way you can move in between your attacks and basically you increase your movespeed by like double or something when chasing someone down or even just harassing them in lane

it's a really really key mechanic. i almost always do it when i right click attack something. i didn't realize until recently that it's pretty important for spells, well if you have a hero that combos a lot of spells together.

Yea, I looked at pa's backswings and dagger has .6 which seems really obvious now and phantom strike has .7 that says it doesn't get applied if the target is an enemy, but canceling it is still obvious way faster too so I think that is bull****. Good **** on the move command. I already do this with ranged heroes a lot but less with melee. I always wondered why much ****tier carries would farm so much faster than me but I think this is a lot of the reason.

Looking at my records on Opendota.com really makes me sad for how badly they've **** on Monkey King since his release. He's now down in the bottom 5-10 heroes in overall win percentage.

I'm up 600 mmr in the past 10 days by mostly taking PA middle whenever possible against the never-ending supply of enemy Invokers in 3k bracket. Grinding rating with support heroes is a Reddit myth. I've been buying a lot of wards and detection mid-game to raise the morale of my team's support heroes, and that seems to be working. The other benefit of playing mid is that I don't think I've seen a single instance of ">We need wards" followed by "gg end no support" in 40+ games. It's almost as if having a tiny bit of map awareness and game sense can result in fewer unnecessary deaths to an early gank. I suppose you COULD go enemy highground to get those 3 last hits while the enemy Rubick and ES are missing, but maybe the smart thing to do is hang back and not die, yeah?

1-shotting full health supports with PA dagger is easily one of the most satisfying things in dota. **** Blademail though. And Axe. **** Axe.

But you're still in the "gg mid no gank" bracket, aren't you?

And on a more serious note, you always play mid now? How does that work? Seems to be where everyone (who deems themselves more worthy than their team) locks their hero portrait asap.

Oh and I've not heard of this support is better to raise your MMR thing, other than that supporting/roaming would make you improve the most.

Yeah I watched Faker's stream (diff game tho) and he does stuff like this, just sits back because the supports are missing. Probably because he is used to people trying to gank him like crazy, but yeah, usually early game when the supports are missing they are trying to gank mid more often than not, especially since it seems nowadays most safe lane supports have no idea of how to use the safe lane to gain levels by pulling, or they think it's boring and would rather gank or whatever.

Sometimes in Dota just sitting back and making people waste the time on rotating is the best strategic move... hard to get used to, since it's like winning by doing nothing but it really can make a difference if people send 3 on you and they have to waste their time with a wasted gank (higher TP cd's now too).

SEA qualifiers, first team in...
Spoiler:
TNC takes first seed in groups. Very talented squad with 1437 as their captain... would love to see TNC vs NP at TI7, maybe 1437 will be the one to fulfill the ultimate dota anime story and win TI himself after getting kicked from NP

Paul Redeye not gonna host TI7, waow that's a bit of a surprise... Could it be Bruno?? Maybe 2GD!??!?! (That would be amazing, and would firmly move Dota 2 far away from ded gaem territory imo). Or maybe they will go for Day9, though that seems more unlikely than 2GD, he just seems too new.... I'm gonna guess either one of Machine, KOTLguy, or Capitalist

ya you can get almost twice the amount of right clicks in the same distance/time by stopping the animation. the calc was in a day9/purge newbie vod

Spoiler:
not that useful for wisp tho
