So do you change specs at higher levels or what? I still don't get this.

It seems like once you make a certain class and get it to 70 that you can just change it around as much as you want to the point that it doesn't make a difference.

For instance, I get super addicted and it destroys my life. I have a 70 of each class, and they each have 2 different jobs (one with mining/engineering, one with 2 others, etc).

Isn't this like the best scenario end game? You can just respec and respec over and over again.

For a heavy fee later on. Though I havent played WoW in several years. Is 50g still the max cost to respec? And is 50g even a notable amount of money anymore? Or is 50g not even a deterrent anymore?

I never respec (warlock affliction spec ftw), but afaik, I think you can respec starting at 1g and it moves up in increments until you reach a max of 50g to respec. I don't think it ever costs more than that, and if you don't respec over a period of time, I think the price will slowly decrease.

It doesnt ever decrease, but 70s can poop out 50g so.

It goes 1-5-10-15-... iirc

You know, I had this long speech winding up on not to play. But it's just easier to say:

DO NOT PLAY WOW

you will become hooked.

Game is fun yo.
2g at level 17 isn't that much imo. Then again I was probably better at playing the WoW economy than most, my first 40 had like 300g (most people have trouble coming up with the 100g or so for a mount).

http://www.auctioneeraddon.com <== use this to help price your auction items. Except on the most sparsely populated servers you should be able to sell anything > grey quality. Also the tooltips are a godsend for leveling your professions as they tell you which items to make.

Regarding respec: 1g is chump change by the time you reach a level such that you would even need to respec. Yes the price goes up every time you do it, though as a hunter I doubt you'll need or want to respec that often.

yeah luke that was the advice i was gonna give -- there are some great addons that make the game a lot more efficient/easier/make your noobishness less pronounced. i forget all the names, but i know of two that have helped me a lot: quest helper and auctioneer. the quest helper is really just amazing for a player starting out -- maps out like a path for you to most efficiently finish all your quests and head back to town to collect rewards, and shows you on your map where to go to get the maps. its pretty good! also get the one that gives you coordinates on your map, not sure which one that is.

Goggles get mining, smelt copper/tin bars and sell them on the AH. You will need more money or youll never get your mount at 40.

That is incorrect, if you don't respec over the course of one month the fee will drop one level.

Well it drops 5g a month. But I respec 1-2 times a week so it doesn't matter much. 50g isn't a whole lot at 70 but it can add up.

You can talk to guards in any major city (Darnassus, Ironforge, Stormwind) and ask for directions. An icon will show on your map for the location.

That's what I bought my last account for. Just biding my time until WotLK comes out, then I'll heal my way in instances to 80.

this is a terrible attempt to HJ, but I have a 70 shaman that I'm interested in selling. SSC/TK geared, epic flying mount. can link to armory on request. end shameless plug.

goggles, I wouldn't worry too much about the auction house just yet. however, once you get to higher levels, you can become a sort of WoW business man, buying items that seem low, and then selling them higher later. I was one of the first 5 people on my server to get my epic flying mount. It probably only took me 3-4 days (although at that point in time nobody knew about elemental plateau). there's an astounding WoW-real life market; people will pay $100's of dollars to buy virtual gold & items, and a well-geared character can sell for a couple thousand (although that's on the far extreme).

Again, timing is everything. If TBC release was any indicator, once WotLK comes out, people who get to 80 fast will be able to make lavish profits off of selling accounts. But I wouldn't be surprised to see a lot of people try to take their money back when they realize they spent a grand on a friggin' video game.

I have a bunch of characters on Magtheridon.

I'm about to hit lvl 63 on my Gnome Mage, next time I get a chance to play for an hour or two. I think I have about 104,000 XP to go, and currently questing in Zangarmarsh.

My Mage is skinning and tailoring, but I never do tailoring. I just skin the hell out of everything I can and then sell the leather at the AH. Another thing I do is sell Runecloth and Netherweave cloth like it's my business. I get about 2g50s for Runecloth and about 3g to 3g50s for Netherweave. And I always sell in stacks of 20. I get them from looting during quests. I should probably drop the tailoring and pick up mining just to sell the stuff I mine too, but haven't gotten around to it. I'm more concerned with leveling up to 70 so I can get my gear.

I also have a lvl 13 Human Warlock, lvl 6 Night Elf Priest, lvl 20 Human Warrior that I haven't played on in a long time, and then a lvl 4 Dwarf Hunter that I don't play, and a lvl 5 Draenei Shaman that I only started to see what it was like.

I'll probably work on my warlock and priest the most and then go and slaughter Horde because I hate them like you wouldn't believe.

Here is a good forum/site...the link takes you to the hunter class forum, they have a pretty detailed FAQ for hunters at the top that helped me a lot when I first started.

http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/class.html?wclass=5

As for addons, I use a bunch of different stuff, but simply starting out, google Cosmos, get the complete packagage and Auctioneer...they will make life much easier. There is also an addon called Auto X...which when you go to vendors it will auto sell all greyed out items.

-Use auction house always to sell stuff off when possible, you will always make much more than at a vendor.
-If its your first character...get gathering professions such as mining and skinning...easy to level and you can offload ore and leathers quickly and for monies...so you will quickly get gold.

I used two really good guides for leveling when I first started, as WoW took me a while to get a hold of wtf I was doing...they put you on the path of where to go and the quickest routes to getting your character to level 70...if you are not intrested in throwing money at them, you can probably find them through torrents or creative google searches...the power level guide for alliance is Brian Kopps alliance guide and, for horde its Joana's Horde leveling guide.

Goggles, the best way to enjoy this game is play with a bunch of people you know. Most of my friends quit/xfered so the game lost its appeal for me. Even with all the bashing it gets, its actually a really fun game and highly addicting especially for those with addictive personalities.

It also destroyed a good 2-3 years of my life.

I dont know how much you guys have researched professions but I can give you a quick rundown:

Basically all crafting professions are money losers. You can make money if you get the super rare/difficult recipes. These are usually from raids and such, you will waste too much money on these otherwise as a first char.

Mining is way ahead of other profs in money making ability. Skinning is probably next, then herbalism. You can sell every mining ore super easy because smiths and engineers need them. A lot of low level herbs sell very poorly. Skinning is very plentiful but slows down your kill rate, especially if you have a skill like remorseless strikes (rogue ability where you get bonus by having less than 20s downtime).

Cliffsnotes: Get mining/skinning for first char, sell on AH, get rich.

Imsa,

I have skinning and leatherworking (skinning is like 160 or something while leatherworking is going along much more slowly).

Do you think I should dump leatherworking for mining?
Does anyone play WoW? Quote

Herbalism > mining/skinning in terms of $ for time. But it is a little server dependent.
