Go figure, it's quickest to level as dps, so the classes that can tank have no experience at it unless they understood what tanking was when they first bought the game and specifically rolled the class to tank.
I've had numerous toons that could tank. I never did. I've tried tanking on a pally and druid, but I wasn't very good at it and just found it generally too hectic. Of course, I was raised a healer, that may be why.
The first part is why RB left me for other video games. He had a druid, but didn't want to be forced to heal (vanilla wow).

I'm not even a big fan of DKs starting at level 55 but I don't think anyone really likes it. So many bad DPS DKs that can't tank at all.
My biggest gripe in WoW is people with versatile classes who don't even put effort into being useful.
How many times have you guys needed a healer or a tank and there is one of these nubs in your raid and you feel like strangling them?
First of all, you can't say bad dps dks are a good reason to hate that they start at 55. How many bad dps (insert ANY class here) people have you run across? Some people.. a lot of people are just more interested in playing the game than getting good at it/understanding the best way to play their class.
At this point, the only alt I roll any more is DK, and that's just because I hate grinding levels. And that's why I don't have a single DK over 60.
It's insulting to every other class that you have to start at 1 and DKs start at 55, and I think it's why there's so many DKs period. May as well save 2-4 days of your life and just roll whatever's easy. Maybe a compromise would be that if you have an 80, you can start any class at 45. Not as high as the mighty 'hero' class, but still saving you a crapload of time and giving you enough time to learn the class.

You're right, you should always be willing to spend your time and gold to get gear, get it enchanted, and then respec whenever the randoms you're with can't find a tank/healer.

I have a severe mental illness!!
Kidding, but seriously, like, cooking? Really? It's a ****ing waste of time and money to have to mail the mats to one toon, log off, log on with him, retrieve the ****, make the food, mail it back, log off, log back in, retrieve it from the mail.
That's necessary? I'm not saying if you get an epic on one toon you should have it on all of them (well, sort of, with the rep thing), but stuff like this is just silly.
Oop, only leveled one toon to max with fishing, if I see a node I want while on another toon, gotta burn my hearth or log in the middle of nowhere, log in with the other guy, fly to wherever I think I was,
then fish it. /facepalm
