Someone tried this one on me last night, but luckily the people in the trade chat warned me ahead of time. Thought I would share it with you all so noone gets screwed.

The scammer asked in chat if anyone wanted to do gob hunting. I said sure, why not. He sent a party invite and I accepted. He asked to look at my gear and then told me to inspect his. I saw him switching between his dps set and mf set quickly. He told me he was using a script to switch and would send me the link.

Apparently there are some scripts that allow you to switch. I asked in general chat how this scam works. They said its a fake swapping script that drops all of your items and freezes your screen. I told the scammer to politely **** off with his scam. Scammer and his friend left to find the next unsuspecting victim.

I figured we could use a thread like this so noone loses all of their items to lowlife scum ****ers.

Yup, lots of scum bags trying to scam. Just use common sense and everything will be okay.

If something sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

Don't join skype/ventrilo with someone you don't know, and don't go to any links you are given EVER.

read on the forums about a scam where someone got whispered with "hey, guess who this is!", and so the guy named a few of his friends and eventually got "yea, it's bob!" or whoever. and they talked together for like 10 minutes, and eventually he gave him like 10m gold and a 15m weapon, then the guy asked for all his items and he finally got suspicious and the guy left.

Itt we talk about drop hack "scam" that's been around for over 10 years. It happened to me on D2 when I was like 15. Pretty simple that you don't just click a random link someone you don't know sends you.

People have been selling unid's after identifying them on the Public Test Server.

Did they fix the issue with seeing unid item code that allows you to tell what they are without ID'ing them?

Yes but now you just copy your character to PTR, ID there, then go back to live and sell the bad UNid's there.
