Lol man didn't play either beta and thread looks like Spanish to me atm. Just had supplies picked up going to rescue civilians now. Not sure what to think yet.

I did not play either beta. You still figure it out reasonably quickly.

Didn't play beta either, quickly convinced by caftan and Dave to drop $100 on this game. I like what I've seen. Wish I could loot literally everything, so used to fallout still

I'd say level 12 at a minimum for DZ, especially if you're solo. I have a pretty good idea of what I'm doing, and I couldn't handle it at 10.

ncsuthedude on Xbone if anyone wants to group up.

If you're in a group and have a good gun you can prob get by at 8 in the dank zone but you'll still get like one shot by some of the PVE guys

One side mission/encounter away from level 26. Current plan is to hit level 29, DZ until rank 30, then hit level 30.

We got all the way to a boss on Hudson Bay (HARD) last night. Hour-long mission. Servers died for maintenance.

why are ya'll playing missions on hard? they take twice as long and the drops / minimal xp gains arent worth it.

I thought once you passed level 10, the hard missions dropped two purple items at the end or something like that? or is that bad info from wherever I read it?

No in hard you get more credits and the item guaranteed at the end is usually better quality. It is still mostly blue, until you get into the level 20+ missions anyway.

Hard gives the same XP as well, generally not worth it for leveling since it takes longer then just running on normal.

I got my first (only so far) two purples from a level 27 yellow boss. A piece of gear and a gun mod.

So first thoughts about the 25-29 DZ bracket:

Purple loot everywhere, like to the point of not bothering to pick up blues. I seem to be alone in the instance, every chest I have come across is available. Holy **** there are mobs everywhere, not just in the usual spawn points, I tried extracting at the first extraction point and had to retreat twice before I could finally extract. Each money drop form a mob is like 400 DZ credits.

There are so many mobs that when you hear gun fire it is basically guaranteed to be two factions fighting each other.

Picked this up a few hours ago. The game is amazing so far. Just hit level 5. Can't put it down

Have been reluctant to get this because of reports of a) absurd bullet sponge enemies, and b) the dark zone enables, if not encourages, griefing. What are peoples thoughts on that?

yes, those are definitely some negatives of a game full of positives. bullet sponginess generally coming from being under leveled but good use of tactics, grenades and skills can help a lot

the dark zone you will find a lot more cooperation than you'd think.

The bullet sponginess comes from it being an rpg. If you are properly leveled and have decent gear you can kill enemies without much problem. I am melting through elite enemies in the Darkzone with my assault rifle at the moment.

On the other hand if you are underleveled the bullet sponginess can be extreme. Kowalski and I teamed up with a friend of his to run a hard mission. His friend was level 19 and we were level 15 and 16. The enemies in mission scale to the highest level person in the group. I could do a little damage with my marksman rifle but we were largely useless. As a bonus though I got the achievement to Revive a Teammate 20 Times from that one mission.

As for the Darkzone it is generally friendly, or at least not as hostile as it could be. You'll mostly just be ignored by other players. Sure someone might kill you but you can just respawn somewhere farther away if you want.

I'm only a level 9 so far but if anyone wants to team up on PS4 and play a bit I'd be down. PSN is KingSecretSystem

Daer thanks for good posts.

I've played basically only single player and co-oped missions so far, with only walking around in Darkzone lower levels.

Now when I started playing, I was kinda aiming to collect as much weapon parts, fabrics etc for crafting, but as the blueprints drop rate aren't that good in real, it now seems kinda useless, as looting purple seems rather easy from DZone.

And about sponginess, I've done some mission, where I kinda let myself get carried throughout for the fast XP. If you are 4-5 levels lower in mission co-op, you are basically worthless for the team, as you need to fire 3-5x more bullets to enemies. Today helped my friends to get through some of missions and basically had to do those alone, others mostly doing healing and getting attention off me.

Drank a few too many beverages and decided to wander into the DZ for the first time.

Ran into a pack of purple bad guys that downed me. What exactly do I lose by dying in a PvE encounter in the DZ?

Lowest level of the DZ.

Depends if you had picked up any loot, if so it would be dropped. Otherwise it is just a small amount of DZ credits and Darkzone XP. At low levels it was probably less then 100 of each. If you have Dark Zone keys you will also drop some of those as well.

You can go back to where you died and pick up the items and DZ keys you dropped if no one else picked them up.

There is so damn much game in this game. It's kind of overwhelming at the moment. But absolutely amazing!!

So far so good, dying a few too many times and only rank seven. Gotta look more into crafting etc.
