Re: Diablo 3

just found a picture of somebody using a Diablo 2 mod that allows higher resolutions:

that's 1280x1024, and all that artwork was done 11 years ago

imagine 1920x1080, and imagine if the art was actually drawn today with those resolutions in mind, and if they fully utilized modern chipsets just for lighting and particle effects and if all that power could be focused on anti-aliasing instead of polygons counts

nobody's ever even tried to make a really detailed modern 2d game, i'm convinced it'd look way more detailed and realistic than 3d

and artists would never be forced to stop making something look better because they ran out of polygons, they'd be allowed to just perfect every detail

Re: Diablo 3

Except it's a LOT more work-intensive to draw lots of 2D art animations than have the rigging crew animate your 3D ones.

Which is why we have the problem I outlined in post 984.

Re: Diablo 3

True pros either roll out with the best class (wizard) or will try one of the new ones, . Bah barb.

Re: Diablo 3

Also, I remember there was a high res pack years ago, but it's only for single player, so no thanks for me.

yeah i think you're right, it'd probably cost a lot more to make that perfect beautiful 2d game, i still think that's what would look the best though if we were trying to make the perfect-looking diablo sequel

3d is obviously amazing for FPS and third-person MMOs and stuff though

What's going to be the easiest class to play? I never played D2 so I need to start thinking about what I'm going to roll.

in this genre the more item-based melee fighter is traditionally considered the easiest to play, so if that's the biggest concern of yours then go with a barb

they should all be pretty easy though really

i'd just pick whichever one looks like the most fun, i'll be rolling a wizard

or a monk

Re: Diablo 3

historically melee classes have had way harder times than "casters" so im not sure you can label them easier.

Re: Diablo 3

reading the d3 forums I just realized theres absolutely nothing you can do when you level up after 30.

no more skills passive or not to choose from... meh. The age of dinging is gone : (

Re: Diablo 3

i'm not labeling them easier for the new player, blizzard is, since 1996

easier for a player unfamiliar with the genre to play and easier to endgame with are two different things

even leading up to WoW you'd see blizzard referring to the warrior as the easiest class for a player new to MMORPGs to dive in with

said the same thing in diablo 1 and the diablo 1 prima strategy guide about the warrior and about the barbarian with diablo 2

Re: Diablo 3

Yawn, blizzard will keep sticking to that story and push to have bnet the focal point of everything. Someone will hack in a matter of weeks, like with AC2, but then again, who wants to play a diablo game single-player, ? imo
