The armory patch was really nice, makes it so much easier to mess around with different builds. I still like to whack around with D3 now and then. It started out pretty rough at launch but you have to give them some credit, the game has improved with every patch. Still has some issues (overall itemization) but keeps getting better. Looking forward to the Necromancer.

if you think d3 has gotten better, you really, really should check out poe. i cant even think of an analogy to describe the contrast between d3 "improvement" and poe improvement.

for perspective, d3 originally took the game and asked "how can we make it better" and their answer was double the difficulty

with the new patch, ggg asked "how can we make poe better" and their answer is double the content

I tried POE, I didn't like it. It obviously has some good things going for it but the gameplay was really clunky and I just don't have time to put substantial effort into two of this type of game.

Yeah, basically the game is split into 4 categories: softcore/season, softcore/nonseason, hardcore/season, hardcore/nonseason.

Apparently, I got into the Necromancer beta test. Once you download the client and login, you have to purchase the Necromancer. I tried that and then I get a Windows error saying "msvcp140.dll is missing."

Not sure what the problem is there. I'm on a newer computer build, but never had that pop up.

I can play Overwatch without a problem.

You have to pay actual money to participate in the beta? Or there was a faux purchase area you had to go through?

It takes you directly to the Create Character screen and then you select the Necromancer. Just like if you were to start a new character and select Wizard, Demon Hunter, etc.

Then it says that you must purchase it and from there it takes you to a new pop-up that has like 1 [whatever currency] that is already attached to the account. So, I didn't have to purchase anything. It was already there.

When I clicked the "purchase" it pops up the Windows error. It's not a Diablo/Blizzard popup.

So, as far as buying the Necromancer. Blizzard is considering it a Necromancer pack. After logging in and creating a character, it tells you that you have to pay for it. When you click Purchase with a credit that is already on your account, it opens a new window and has you do a Blizzard login and then to pay for it. I guess it's an external screen although it appears to be designed by Blizzard. You're pretty much paying for the "pack."

I'm not sure why they did it that way. Maybe since it's on the PTR and they are tying the credit to your account.

Honestly, I barely play the game and haven't logged in in awhile. I built a new computer about a month ago and didn't even have Diablo downloaded again. The only reason I saw the invite was because I was going through all of my different email accounts looking for something completely unrelated.

so how much is it. and how did you get in the beta. just random? did they email you about it?

I got in as well -- I believe it was just random, and they did send an email about it.

For PC, I think you have to opt in to Diablo betas on the battle.net website and after that it's random.

When I say I had to purchase, what I meant was that I was given some kind of diablo credit coin that was tied to my account. I didn't have to physically pay for it.

I got the invite in an email. I just rebuilt a new computer so it could be because of my specs but that is just a guess. I barely play the game.

Actually got the urge to start back up with this game. I started a hardcore seasonal Demon Hunter. IIRC after a couple days I'm about lvl 40 now. I forgot how much fun this game was (when you hadn't yet exhausted everything). And starting from scratch feels even more exciting haha.

Necromancer release date is June 27.

$15.

$15 is better than $20, but it still seems about 5ish higher than is reasonable, in my opinion, for one class. However, I have no nostalgia around the necromancer, so maybe for others it's a welcomed options & price.

That said, I like multiboxing and I'll probably end up buying 4x necro. C'est la vie.
