I just saw a guy go 12-12 in the crucible and get an exotic rocket launcher.

I have never hated anybody this much before.

Love this game and hate it at the same time ... Is there going to be more game modes for multiplayer in the future domination gets a little boring aftr a while.

You should have 4 modes already - "domination" (control!), TDM, FFA and "Skirmish". If you don't yet, you need to play IIRC at least one of the next one along. I quite like skirmish actually, interesting dynamic with the revives. Been playing mostly control tho.

As you can see in the image a few posts up, "Salvage" is up this weekend (no idea what this is, maybe like hardpoint?) and "Combined Arms" (prob many vehicles) at unspecified time this month.

And Iron Banner! which was preferable imo in the Beta, but who knows how it'll play out now. In the Beta it was fairly trivial to cap out a character, and the range of weapons with bonuses was greatly limited. Now, not so much.Iron Banner was played on Control during the Beta, it enables full level effects...

Once at 20 you can find/equip items of armor with an additional stat, "light". These are only rare (blue) and above. These will raise your effective level, something like 8 points of light = +1 level maybe. In your emblem the level number will become yellow and with a small icon, to show it's boosted by the light. Your actual level doesn't go up, so if you unequip the armor it comes back down to 20 again.

Noticed a fireteam on my friends list 2/3 members doing the heroic weekly strike, so jumped in. It's Old Russia, Devil Walker and Sepkis Prime. Wow it's hard. No 30 second respawn timer like normal darkness zone, you gotta risk revives. Arc Damage modifier (which basically means you must be dealing arc damage). I bailed after 2 hours of death on the final stage - the normal mobs that accompany Sepkis Prime were replaced with mostly level 24 yellow elites, and they continually murdered us. At one point got as close as having the stupid big purple sphere down to ~15%, health, but we died again Need more better gear!

If any 2p2 crew want to run the weekly heroic I'm up for another go!

Anybody who has played multiple between titan, hunter, and warlock what do you think of them?

I am a hunter and kind of plan to level until I get bored (will be fast) then make a Titan

I prefer playing the Hunter and Warlock only because they move quicker. The Titan does have a Perk around level 14 that increases his agility.

Honestly they're like 85% the same, real differences are movement and the specials. The Defender Titan is kinda cool though; very useful in Control and obviously in PvE.

You get like a tag thing and I think you can coordinate with each other on the friends list more easily, or something? I'm not really sure.

I love how difficult some of these bosses are. My buddy and I (with 1 random) spent at least 2 hours yesterday trying to beat Phogoth for the bounty. We're probably under leveled (11 and 10), but I've never had so much fun dying and losing over and over and over. I might hit a wall at some point here, but so far this game has lived up to everything I expected it to be. I'm almost exclusively a competitive type FPS multiplayer guy, skipping all campaigns and single player games, but I've only played one crucible match and so far don't plan on straying too far out of PvE.

I still don't understand anything about this game and what makes it so great. I watch streams and all I see is a FPS with robots.

I don't understand where the loot is coming from, how it drops, or what you're supposed to do. How are people finding the special guns? Does loot only drop after the game? Is it just a random reward after each mission? I don't get it.

Someone explain how the game works, please. What is a typical mission from beginning to end, loot and all. Thanks.

I'm the same as you I come from a competitive FPS back ground but I do not share the same thoughts as you sadly. I find story modes super boring, I was playing coop mode the other day with a friend, basically he was really interested in everything that happened me I just was killing when I had to and looking at my computer the other times.

I would buy/play game for you to understand the game fully, I don't really get what everything is for but I'm learning by getting hands on with the game.

Drops / Loot

Every game mode drops stuff somehow. Every game mode also offers currency rewards. Every game mode also offers post-game rewards (not always; you sometimes get post-round drops and sometimes get unlucky and whiff).

Some drops are actual items. Other drops are currency. Other drops are called "Engrams." These are decoded (or revealed) by an NPC. Sometimes you luck out and the engram provides you with a highly powerful item. Most reveals of Engrams are meh.

In essence, everything you do has the potential to result in a drop.

In PvP, every game offers post-game rewards (not always; you sometimes get post-round drops, sometimes not). As your level gets higher the quality of the post-round drops improves (but not outlandishly so).

In PvE, each Story Mission or Strike has the potential to drop stuff - engrams, gear, currency - during the mission or strike, AND at the end (the post-round scoreboard).

You can also utilize currency to buy nice gear.

Weapon Normalization for PvP

In PvP, the game balances the damage between elite weapons and lower-level weapons. The idea here is that a Level 8 guy with a good Assault Rifle for his level can compete with a Level 28 guy with a super great Assault Rifle. This does not mean that the perks are limited - that elite rifle probably still reloads faster, aims better, etc. But its DAMAGE will not be unfair.

In PvE, the better your gear the better you are. You improve your gear, as noted above, by buying it or earning it through drops / engram decodes / post-round rewards.

Typical Mission

You fly into Venus to play a strike. You do the strike. During the strike a couple engrams might drop, or maybe a weapon itself (probably a pretty bad weapon). After the strike the game shows you a table containing your kills, assists, revives, deaths, etc. The game then lottos you 0, 1, or 2 rewards for the strike. You may whiff. You may get two rare items. You may get currency.

I think that mostly covers it.

The game is really good because the combat is just awesome, and the grind is varied and fun. It satisfies that loot urge and the FPS comp urge. What's not to like?

EDIT: There are also bounties that can, from time to time, reward you with super elite stuff instead of experience (see here for an example).

So I have not like got rid of anything I've picked up, is there any point to drop old gear that's just being carried around? Can I sell it or anything?

Nevermind. When you "dismantle" you get money (whatever the currency is)
