Then meta critic reviews on this game, by users, are ultra spastic. It seems like it either gets a 10 or a 0-1.

For those level 15 or over, how much actual playing time(hrs) would you estimate you played to get to level 15?

I'm either doing something totally wrong or not playing as much as some of you. After tonight I'll have about 5.5hrs of actual playing time and should be level 6.

Your leveling seems typical.

I've probably played about 5 hours and I'm level 8 but feel like I've been going fast and just pushing through the story and patrol, etc.

I hit level 20 earlier tonight (21 now thanks to some fancy gear). I've played a lot! I also knew exactly what I was doing in Old Russia, since I've done it all 5 or six times before. Went a lot more cautiosly on the moon, and I haven't done much of Venus at all yet. I also made sure to always be clearing bounties, and I played a good amount of PVP in the crucible, which awards bonus XP in a certain game mode (rotates), and gives lots of XP anyway if you run good at killing folks

Dave, I haven't done any Crucible yet, do you suggest waiting until above level 15 for it or does it not matter for matchmaking?

I think I did levels 8-14 in crucible alone, or thereabouts. Level advantages are disabled, so everyone is kinda normalized - but it isn't quite fair. Tons of lower levelled people in matchmaking I found. During the Beta, I played Control a fair bit with a brand new Titan - just with the starter assault rifle and shotgun (you don't need to unlock crucible again on later characters) - it went decently enough!

So long as you've unlocked a grenade, your double jump, your super, and the first "codex" (these might be different on other classes, I can't remember - it's a class unlock that just boosts all agility, armor, recovery), and have found a weapon or two you're happy with - you'll be fine. If you have some armor pieces that complement your play, all the better (e.g. some +Discipline parts for quicker grenade cooldown)

A tip people perhaps don't know - you can "cancel" your double jump by aiming left trigger, only needs a quick tap and you drop back down again, or at least stop going up. Get good at controlling your jumps. The three classes are all quite different in their jump skills, so not sure how this applies to them all.

Also, "Control" is far closer to Team Deathmatch than it is Domination. Capture the points by all means, but the winning comes from getting kills - the control points are a bonus multiplier only, no benefit from holding them for time and sitting back.
