Falcon, how many hours did you clock to finish it?

Probably around 40. I did some ridiculous grinding and got my soul level up to 100. That's probably way too high for the first playthrough.

Wow, I must be ******ed. I've killed four bosses in 24 hours, with a soul level of 28 currently. Ah well, I'm still havin fun.

Just picked this up, still fantastic. Anyone with a PS3 and patience that doesn't have this game is doin' it wrong.

I'm pretty late to this party, but picked this up this weekend, and it's been a long time since a game has got its hooks in me this bad, I'm simply infatuated at this point and it's completely destroyed any hope at productivity for the week.

Haven't heard about them being notable pains, but the Maneaters are the first real wall I've hit, they just own me over and over. Was just thinking today how I was conservative or lucky in that the highest soul cash I've totally lost was around 9k, got cocky and just lost about 26k up on their altar.

I actually chose to keep messing with 2 instead of attempting the 1-4 boss too, bleh.

There's a wiki online you can easily search for that will get you all the help you need on beating bosses.

That said, the boss immediately afterwards the Maneaters currently has me on the verge of breaking controllers.

My record for soul loss is 50k, which was maddening, as I was saving up to buy a big item.

Yea the wikidot is awesome, usually I'm very anti-walkthrough/guide but I've been using it a fair amount with this.

You playing that boss in online mode?

Actually it isn't the boss, it is the trip up the stairs TO the boss. A combination of the mindflayers getting me over and over combined with being forced to sit through the stupid animation of the boss being summoned over and over was driving me insane.

The thing I *love* about the game is that I know I'm dying because I'm just doing something wrong. A different weapon or strategy will solve the problem soon enough.

Just got to those Mindflayers, they're pretty tapped compared to the 3-2 ones. I just jacked up my shield with a bunch of cloudstone, hopefully it helps but we'll see.

Sneaking up behind the one on the spiral staircase before Maneater, jamming a sword through his back, then kicking him down the tower was super satisfying, guys are a pain in the ass.

How did you guys tend to go with upgrading weapons and shields, sharp, quality, or the other one? I'm kind of a middleground Royalty guy so neither my strength or dex is super jacked up but I try and keep them somewhat up there relatively.

Wow, I was doing it wrong.

Last night I fought through 1-3, and discovered that 1-4 was exponentially harder. So I went to 4-1 for a break, and breezed through it. Basically, I'm overpowered for that level, killing virtually every enemy in one hit. It's kinda awesome, though.

With upgrading, I used the wikis to figure out what upgrades did what and go from there. I played a hunter, and am playing a strong magic element as well, so I upgraded the crap out of my Dragon Long Sword +1 to have a good fire weapon to go with the Soul Ray spell. It's been an excellent combo so far. Also, I have a Mail Breaker +9 for close combat stabbing, and am in the middle of upgrading the Estoc for similar use with more range. Upgrading really depends on what style you like to play.

As a side note, while I haven't played Dragon Age, it makes me sad that this thread is only a few pages, but Dragon Age's thread goes on for about a billion.

I made this mistake as well at first. The levels, by difficulty, are grouped by their second number, not the first, so all the X-1s are comparable with each other.

Makes finding some items and vendors easier than it looks initially.

Never had any issues with those being underpowered, and the ability to poke with the shield up helps.

Now that I've finally got myself past the first few bosses, this game is really taking off. I think I'm just starting to get a feel for the huge scope. It really is an amazing game.

I've beaten nine of the bosses in the game, and just passed the 50 hour mark, although it appears I spent a bit more time farming than I absolutely had to. But yeah, this game will chew up a lot of time, and not in an obnoxious way by trying to get you to collect the 100 gems hidden throughout the game to get a special item.

Just a heads up for everyone here, through the 28th, they have set the world tendencies to all white, similar to how it was all black for Halloween. Time to grab items!

i'm thinking about buying a PS3. I need a blueray player and this game seems badass, worth it or not? also is FFXIII versus going to be PS3 exclusive cuz thatd make it an easier purchase too.

As far as I know ffxiii will be for all consoles
