Dark Souls 2 is unflinchingly ambitious in a way that few games are. Yes, the world is massive; yes, there are far more bosses than the last game; yes, I've spent dozens of hours playing, and I'm sure I still haven't seen close to everything.

From Software has embraced the challenge they're known for while simultaneously cutting away a lot of the fat — bits of previous games that were more annoying than they were difficult. The result is the strongest Souls game yet, and one that's worth giving a shot even if you were scared away last time.

In addition to being larger and more varied, the environments in Dark Souls 2 succeed more often at telling a story. Each zone has its own lore that unfolds as you explore it, usually without the help of cutscenes or even dialogue.
I stopped in at Best Buy and they had 4 on pre reserve, but one guy who stopped in literally 10 minutes before I did was told he had to get his copy through the .com that he ordered it, so I was able to buy his copy there . Assume keeping any kind of in-game discussion is spoilers for a while? Involving early game obv.
Spoiler:
Just now getting into it. Found Heidie's [sp?] Tower of Flame and Land of the Fallen Giants. Starting off in LotFG running a dual-wielding banding atm but did pick up a Crimson shield.
Dual wielding doesn't make sense to me. I thought there would be an attack speed bonus but it seems like it's the same as just 1-handing the better weapon. Except now I have no shield. What gives?
