I think I can spoil for myself things now as I suspect if I ever play DS again that will be to 100% it.

So I noticed a lot of areas and bosses that I haven't seen entirely and I figured it's just part of the DLC. BUT! To my surprise it seems like that my Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition already has the DLC! How on earth I managed to miss all of the things? Luckily I haven't checked up on any of the zones or bosses (well, just spoiled that for one zone you need peculiar doll and for other zone equipping some ring for some statue to disappear), as soon as it struck me that I have DLC I closed all of the tabs.
This is pretty common. I missed a bunch of stuff in my first playthrough. There is a lot of events, etc that if you don't take just the right steps that you'll never see or know about.

Game is more forgiving the second time through mainly because you know what to expect now and know most of the boss fights.

Dark Souls - the only game where you need a walkthrough to access the DLC.

Do you know of the existence of fake walls? If not, that's also something you might want to look into for your second playthrough

Of course I found some but it's not always easy and not always I get a floor hint.

It's worth replaying just to fight the excellent DLC bosses. Such great battles.

There's also the collection achievements. Gather all the pyromancies, miracles, sorceries, and rare weapons in the main game (DLC not required).

When all else fails, you can get into a PvP covenant and play against online players.

I don't want to get raped in PvP, I accept DS raping me, that's good enough for me.

Sometimes DLCs can be pure money grabs and not worth the time. That is not the case with souls. You'd be doing yourself a disservice by not playing it and truly missing out on some fantastic content. Same can be said for DS2, bloodborne, and almost assuredly DS3.

lol playing Dark Souls once.

Beat the game using miracles, pyromancy, and sorcery and vastly different weapons (like a greataxe, katana, and spear). The enemies will all feel different and provide a different challenge. And you'll start to put the world/lore/plot together just by spending time in universe.

Then it's time to start the challenge playthroughs. I'd recommend starting with a no-shield run. That's super great imo.

No shield run is super fun. Take the curved sword into Queelag's Furysword and just roll around everywhere.

Just started getting used to no shield in ds2, beat the dlc dragon with no shield which was sweet

I switched to no shield sorcerer in DS2 and have played one ever since. Once you get used to no armour and no shield it's very liberating. Some boss fights can be a huge pain in the ass though.

I've started a dragon-body only run. Switching from stacking poise and 100% shield to avoiding has been interesting.

If a human-dragon is reasonably sane, I'd hate to see what Patches thinks of as insane.

If you like the McElroy brothers (MBMBaM, Adventure Time, etc.), you'll have to check out their YouTube series "Monster Factory" and their play of DS1.

I'm probably just posting for my own amusement now, but no matter how many times I went through Sen's Fortress, I never got screwed like this.

I'd have said that's staged if I hadn't spent hundreds of hours watching speed runners find new ways to die.

Potential spoilers. It's amazing how many people play with no poise, then rage when they get staggered by small hits.
