Dark Souls (Demon's Souls 2) Dark Souls (Demon's Souls 2)

Honestly, I hated everything about the online system. Everything. I'd actually disconnect every time I played.

(EDIT: I'm a BIT biased, though because I've always been a solo kinda guy who doesn't enjoy multiplayer stuff much unless it's in person with a friend)

Is the graveyards suppose to be a tough spot to fight? Isn't it the only spot? I didn't find the smaller skeletons that hard. With enough strength you can shatter them with a hit, and keep hitting them. I'd take my time to hit both skeletons, then do a power hit or two on them and run away and let stamina come back. Seemed to work fine.

I didn't see too many weapons/armor pick ups. A couple of schmitars I could of picked up, but they were weaker than the starting mace. Didn't have enough dexterity to use a spear as well.

Very fun game so far, even if I am confused as hell at some points. Last question:

Those glowing messages on the floor, did the game put those there, or did other players, or both? Because there are some that seem like the game put them there (the beginning telling you controls, some of them saying "Good luck" or something after beating the Asylum Dragon) but then some of them are just straight up weird (random one on top of a walkway saying "try the bonfire" and one in the water near the graveyard saying "liar")
A good rule of thumb for new players in Dark Souls is 'follow the path of least resistance'. The graveyard is not the only path available at the start of the game, come back later.

Don't dismiss any weapon you find based on it's initial damage output. You'll come to realise moveset, speed and weight are all very important, and the inital numbers will be irrelevant once you've upgraded the weapon and your character some more.

The majority of messages you seen in game have been left by other players playing online. Most are nonsense but I'd recommend reading all as a new player as many will hint towards shortcuts/loot/traps etc.

I love the "liar" message in the water near the graveyard. Seasoned players will know what that means.

If I had to guess, it's probably about there not being 2 bells that the guy in armor tells you. But I'm probably wrong

I struggled a bit in the beginning finding the right way to go. If you stand at the bonfire, you should be able to see a well with a corpse hanging over the edge. In that direction, beyond the well there's a staircase leading up. That's the 'right' way to go.

Playing through the DLC and I have no idea what's going on. I creep around with my shield up all the time and then suddenly, out of the blue: dead. The clues were there (3 corpses out in the open, pretty close together) so I kind of knew that something was up, but I still died.

I love this game.

The right way to go is a couple of suicide runs into hard areas for starter gear

Also KDebo its not about the bells and youll understand later on in the game.

A lot of the messages left by other players are plain malicious.

biggest douchebag I've ever encountered in Dark Souls/Demon's Souls was one of the monk fights in Demon's, I was a caster, and, at least for me, casters are terrible in pvp in Demon's (they are ok in Dark with some of the DLC spells, but obv melees are the best)

anyway, the guy broke all of my armor and weapons before killing me, and in Demon's it's a lot more expensive to repair armor/weapons

Was he using the scraping spear? It destroyed your armor in Demon's Souls. Such a douchy weapon to use in pvp.

yea, it was a spear, so must have been that, I think it was ~25k-30k souls to fix everything

then I had to fight him again, so I ran in naked

Going to attempt a wanderer playthrough with no shield allowed ever. Best to level the scimitar using 2-handed into Queelag's Furysword or use some other weapon right off the bat?

Well on playthrough #2 you can apreciate the views more since you can see so many areas from differnet vantage points. You will also most likely find alot that you missed out on the first run since when you have the experience its easier to scout for hidden gems without the fear of dying lurking right behind you.

Like finding Ash lake or the Painted world of Ariamis isnt easy without really exploring. I doubt most even go back to the asylum during their first run.

Finding all the covenants is another thing that isnt done easy.

That guy is super tough when you first get there. You just don't have the stats/stability to block any of his attacks. Prob best to move on and revisit that spot.

I kinda wish there was a mode where you could just play boss fights with different characters to try different builds/strategies without having to go through the motions of getting back to them.

I pull the dark knight at the top of the tower down to the bonfire close by. There's more room to fight him there.

Compared to Demon's Souls, they've shortened the runs to the bosses a lot. And I think it's a good thing that you have to run a bit, because the time it takes to run back is part of the loss you suffer when you lose to a boss. And Dark Souls is all about being punished when you screw up.

I guess I meant that I wish you could replay bosses even after you beat them with different builds.

Dark souls co-op Horde mode would be awesome.

Yeah the few times I tried him I would pull him down. Not worrying about him now. Currently getting owned later on in the Undead Parish, the church area with that very large knight. I try bringing him outside, still tough. If I stay in that church that white missile comes flying at me. No idea what I'm doing there.

Game is ridiculously fun while being painfully frustrating at times.

Pretty amazing how much easier (and possibly more fun) the game is on repeated playthroughs. Currently going through my no shield run and with no shield I got through Bell Gargoyles with no deaths. Capra is probably going to be a bit tougher because I can't just tank my way through the first attacks and up to the corner to kill the dogs.

It took some tries but I managed to kill the death knights in the undead asylum by parrying and riposting them to death.

Jesus wtf is that butterfly thing how do I even attack it. I've died like 10 times not even hitting it. Do I really need to use a bow?
