I think I heard somewhere that Crysis 2 will not be as hard to run as the first one, I could be wrong though.

probably so, its a console to PC game. I heard the first one was poorly coded. Of course, not being a programmer, I have no idea if this is true..

Crysis was just ahead of its time. it is still the best looking game out for PC. people used the poorly coded angle as an excuse for why their PC rig could not play it well. I'm not sure what kind of coding miracle they were expecting when Crysis provides huge view distances and foliage as far as the eye can see.

anyways, I don't know if Crysis 2 is supposed to take place entirely in NYC, but if it does, it'll run better simply because of that.

I've heard this and that it will also look better too.

The main thing is that the engine will scale better, so it works fine on a console. The PC version will still bitchslap the console versions and probably destroy even cutting edge rigs on maximum settings. Hell Crysis Warhead still struggles to run at super high framerates all maxed out on cutting edge hardware.

Briefer for those of us who may be interested in the console version, but never played the first?

Gah, gotta wait all the way to Q4 for this?

Yea, I've also heard that Cry 2 will require lower settings than Cry 1 and that it should run smoother/look better as well.

-Evil Koreans
-You are a spec ops soldier with a Robot suit (not like some giant Gundam shizzle but a soldier suit) with multiple powers you can switch to on the fly
-Aliens
-Ridic realistic graphics on tropical islands

Crysis: Warhead
-More Koreans
-More aliens with some scenes that made me feel like I was in starship troopers except with snow
-Even more aliens
-Snow AND islands
-More jaw dropping graphics

Story isn't this games focus as it more focused on showing off its sick graphics, open ended elements that let you approach battles the way you want, being a overpowered super soldier (the later aliens are kind of hard and cheap though) and kicking the ass of everything moving.

I'd just like to add that your suit can make you invisible, absorb more damage, jump higher/be super strong and lift heavy things and run faster. You have to think about which power is right for the situation and change your powers accordingly. The nanosuit in Crysis 2 is going to be an improved version of the one in the original Crysis.

All I care about is reliving, or better yet, improving upon (please god one time) the mind-blowing experience of running an optimally tweaked Crysis 1 on my then-high end PC two years ago. Without even knowing much about the general state of graphics technology, I could tell that I was looking at some kind of quantum leap forward in 3-D world visualization. And yeah, two years later, no other game beats it in that regard.

So I'm kind of worried it's set in NYC, because the engine's forte was/is outdoor scenery, landscape and large bodies of water, vast rolling hills, incredible open skies and lighting, and ridiculous draw distances. Planting us amidst a lot of rectilinear structures and urbanized settings does not bode well for my wild hopes.

But I still can't ****ing wait. Oh, and I don't want them to wuss out on the PC mode of CryEngine 3. Like its previous incarnation, it should make cutting edge hardware bleed!

I remember some earlier Cryengine 3 screen shots where there were these portals going between NYC and the traditional Crysis forest environments. I haven't seen any like that in the recent rounds of shots but I think we're going to be covered on the lush and expansive environments as well as the cityscapes.

Interesting article:

http://arstechnica.com/gaming/news/2...troys-nyc.ars/

Quote:
He came on board with Crytek during the tail end of development on the original game and says he stepped into this project with a clear view of making the console experience as deep as the one found on PCs. Despite the challenges, Kitson says he’s yet to be let down, and the team has indeed managed to make one of the most dynamic and beautiful lighting systems on the PC work well on consoles.
Quote:
Since 2007, when first game made its debut, Yerli dreamed of bringing Crysis’ emergent, sandbox-style experience fueled by the diverse abilities of the Nanosuit to the console market. Crytek has spent years working to build the technology capable of making that happen. The result, CryEngine3, makes it possible and also brings a lot of new razzle-dazzle to the table.
There's no way I'm going to spend 600+ dollars upgrading my system to play this game, so reading this made me happy. Also, they hired a professional sci-fi writer to make a compelling story, so hopefully it will be quality and not just a bunch of big talk a la Gears of War.

Well it's not like they're going to say, "in the end we just couldn't get the job done, the graphics on PC are clearly superior due to the better hardware, but at least we managed realistic grass textures on the xbox."

Quite, they are not going to run the console versions down are they? I'm certain they have done some pretty cool things with the hardware available but the fact is that hardware is junk when compared with a top end gaming PC. We can be 100% sure the PC version will look a whole lot better than a console version, whatever spin we hear on the matter.

Crytek: Crysis 2 'looks best on PC'

Oh just to stir things up further here's an article about PS3 vs 360 versions.

Edit: I can't imagine how bad it would be having to play the first game on a game pad so anyone who has the choice it's obvious even if they did all look the same.
