I saw on XPlay last night that Valve has announced a Summer 2012 release date, but there won't be cross platform play like originally expected.

probably because current gen consoles are out of date, so they might as well wait until the new console come out before developing it for them.

I found youtube chanel with tons of oldschool cs stuff. Seems like most footage is from 1.5, saw some 1.3 videos too. Anyways, if someone is interested in watching some oldschool cs epicness while waiting for CS:GO, then this is the chanel:

I'd consider "oldschool cs" as the betas and maybe early final releases, 1.3-> is certainly newschool, as the game was already significantly slowed down... I'd much rather draw the line between "oldschool" and "newschool" in the changes of game mechanics than years passed.

finally got into the beta. just ran into someone giving away an invite on 1.6 servers lol. i hate valve. after 2200+ hours played you'd think i could snag an invite from them. there seem to be alot of noobs in the beta, and too many bots too.

anyways the game looks really nice and feels nice. if they can tighten it up a bit it def has alot of possibilities.

The real reason they cancelled cross platform servers was that the update process on consoles is weaksauce.
It takes tons of time to implement the console updates opposed to steam update for pcs. PC players would be playing awfully buggy versions.
The console players could hook up with mouse and keyboard so it's not a total massacre, jk.

Agreed on the oldschool part. CS used to be good back in the days of 1.5 LATEST.

anyone know how long they are keeping this gun game mode? seems they switched from train on friday or saturday to a new map with what looks like a beach house or something on water with some field / rocks for side excursions. i think the gun game mode is kind of weird i prefer the 5 on 5 defuse

I wreck people in all versions of CS so it doesn't matter. People who are better than you at one version of the game will probably be better than you at another version after the initial adaptation period.

At least it's not as bad as people who complain about CoD. All the CoD's of recent years are pretty much the same. No recoil. EZ Game. Just new maps. Anyone who says they own at Black Ops but suck at MW3 just sucks period (which is VERY hard to do with modern FPS games since they require absolutely no skill).

Haven't played much CS:GO lately. Been getting ready for next season of ESEA. I heard there is a new update coming so I will probably play a few scrims on inferno or whatever new maps they add.

I quit competitive CS about a year ago and havn't really kept up with the scene. Not to mention the scene is dog**** in australia. Tried to get a CS:GO key when I first moved to london but no luck, your youtube clips are brilliant timewasters when i don't have many tables up though.

definitely best patch yet. i can actually stand still and get an accurate first bullet with the ak. also you can control your recoil better. they need to get around to fixing the sound.

they added a 1 shot tazer too to casual mode rofl
