GOGOGO! Anyone have a key here? I would love to strike a deal with you so I can play a few games and make a few commentaries for my YT channel. Watched the live stream a few weeks ago with ksharp, volanco and co. I was very unimpressed with a few aspects of the game (from the looks of it, gun control looks very awkward compared to 1.6 and source)...I want to see what they have done with it!

Edit: Also, I had the pleasure of watching a COD player make a CSS commentary, and I was absolutely amazed that he had been playing COD for several years. Very basic ideas such as not aiming at the ground when moving, pre-aiming and strafe peeking/jump peeking was completely foreign to this guy. Just goes to show the skill level required to be "good" at COD. My favorite part of the commentary is when he buys a famas and tries to run forward while going full auto. He wonders afterward why he doesn't kill the guy across the map.

I'll pay someone to allow me access to the beta for a few days. Would be greatly appreciated!

I have a Diablo 3 beta account in case you were interested in playing that (possibly exchange for a few days, weekend or week).

Nice question italianfx..."is this f2p?" LOL

Yeah I asked if it was going to be f2p. hahaha

I like trying new games for cheap.

I'm starting to pick up on it now that I'm watching. It kind of doesn't make sense to me other than trying to headshot everyone. Are there ever breaks in the game or is it just constant playing with new people filling in whenever there is an opening?

The beta will be available to everyone at some point prior to the release of the game, so you will get a chance to play it if you want to try it out. After that it will be like buying BF3 or COD:55, once you buy it you can play it for as long as you like without paying additional costs (you won't even have to pay for map packs!).

I'm not sure how to answer the "breaks" question of yours. There are different levels of play when it comes to CS. Casual play, which is similar to CoD/BF, and competitive play, where you play on teams of 5 (with people you know) against another team of 5 (who know each other as well). Since competitive CS is a pretty small scene, you also know each other more often than not. What you are probably going to be interested in is the casual type play (initially at least) where you can join a game whenever you want, take a break whenever you want, or rage quit in the middle of a game. Since this is the beta, you really don't see everything the game has to offer. In fact this beta was targeted towards the competitive scene of CS, that is why all you see is 5v5 action. There are also other available settings that may be included later such as gun game and larger team games (10v10 for example)...and those will be probably available once everyone has access to the beta. The 10v10 and gun game modes are definitely fun and add something different for people who don't take CS seriously.

One shot to the head is a kill.

I was watching that one guy and it just seemed like they were constantly playing with no breaks to the lobby (like MW3 where they go back to the lobby after the game is over). How many rounds are there? It seems like it's just all Search and Destroy-ish?

It seemed like shoot a few times, round is over, play again and again and again.

There is no "lobby" in CS. Join a server and play. Number of rounds is arbitrary. Competitive play is 15 round halves. Casual play can be determined by whoever is running the server (sometimes there will be no halves...just switching maps after 20 minutes of play).

Main gametype in CS is defuse (de). Terrorists win the round by either planting the bomb and having it explode or killing all the CT's. CT's win by defusing the bomb if it has been planted or killing at the T's. There is also "cs" which has hostages that the CT's must rescue from T spawn.

This game will be very different from COD and BF if those are the only FPS games you've ever played. This isn't about KDR, kill streaks etc...Unlike COD or BF, you rarely play against random people if you are half decent at the game. In CS, nobody is impressed by going 60-0 against a bunch of noobs. It takes years to get decent at this game, and even longer to become very good.

So maybe that's why it seems like it takes so long, 15 round halves?

It's interesting. I started casually playing Quake Live whenever I feel like screwing around. It requires very accurate precision in aiming and that is what I'm seeing with this game. I'm definitely interested.

Yeah, that is why you NEVER see any matches put up on youtube. Even a 16-0 victory for a team can take 35 minutes to play. Most CS matches take between 50 minutes and 1 hour and 10 minutes to play. That's like 8 TDM games of COD haha.

Let me clarify though...15 round halves with first to 16. So a team can go 16-5 and the match will usually stop there (who wants to play out the rest of the game knowing you already have won or lost).

CS is absolutely boring to watch if you don't know what is going on. I understand why you would get bored of watching it (hell I'm bored of watching the streams already). Who wants to watch someone run around for 1 minute, get shot once and then watch him watch his teammates do the same thing? hahaha. You have a lot more fun playing the game and learning from your mistakes than actually watching it. The reward from this game is not about "oh damn son I just had a 25 kill streak", but it instead comes from seeing yourself improve over time. Like you said, the precise aiming required of this game, coupled with 1 shot kills make this game very unforgiving to mistakes.

Whenever beta goes open I can help you out with learning the game. It will be frustrating in the beginning, but once you start getting the hang of it...you will be addicted to it like it's crack.

I seriously feel bad for people who never played CS and will start with this game.

I remember my first few weeks/months of just getting destroyed in pubs. I only kept playing because so many friends were online all the time.

I never got competitive or anything but there such a huge spectrum of skill in this game you can have a **** load of fun being less than mediocre.

Can't ****ing wait!

Sick update!

I just got access to the beta and I'll be doing my initial reactions/live commentaries on my youtube channel. youtube.com/solsek7

Check it out...first videos will probably go up in a few hours. Because I know someone might ask me, I may rent out my account after a few days if you are interested in playing the beta.

Most annoying thing of beta so far is that it seems like you are sliding when you strafe! Very annoying.

First 2 videos are up on my channel. Fun game, don't know what to expect of this game in the long run though. Lots of work still needs to be done.

It's still in beta though. It's not a "release" version. Unlike BF3 beta, this isn't a demo called a beta. I'm sure once they fix the problems with the game it will be a much better FPS in terms of gameplay compared COD and BF...whether it becomes better than source or 1.6, who knows.

You don't hear people talking about campers, stat whores, lag etc in games like CS, all for a good reason.
