I was shocked they increased inferno damage last time, and now they're doing it again?

I think this means GG for titan league with my th10.

Fun day with my master builder base today. On my main account had the choice of going in the back of a base by dropping wall breakers and wasting an army camp space or going in the front and likely hitting some spring traps. Decided to go in the front and lost 6 giants, probably choice poorly. Needless to say I did not win.

Meanwhile I fat palmed my ipad on my secondary account with level 8 baby dragons and managed to drop 6 dragons on the corner of the screen without realizing it. Got 2 stars

Seems about right.

I'm not sure if I've seen any max balloons but the firecrackers are nbd. Max AT's are worse. If everything's maxed, things like the crusher and double cannons can slow you down if they're in the way and that sucks too. Bad base designs are easily clearable no matter the level though.

Mass witches lvl 12 at bh 6 seem really OP from what I've seen on the developer build. Anyone close to maxing bh5, without the walls obviously?

Yeah I'm hoping to be there before the update. I'm starting to get a few max defenses, most of the rest at 4. Hero at 3, going to 4 tonight. Baby drag 10/giants 8. I haven't looked into how much time I actually have left, some of the minor stuff might take a while to grind out, but the stuff that matters should be done in a week or two. Definitely going straight to 6 when the update hits.

100% grunching:

If I need a strategy type game to play on my phone at work and I spend say $100 on in game purchases is that going to bring me to a competitive level? Or am I still gonna have to do a bunch of grinding either way? Game looks interesting, I have tired of hearthstone.

Depends what you mean by competitive, generally for anything remotely close to end game you need many thousands. $100 will get you a good start and you will progress a bit faster in the beginning but that's it. Coc doesn't need a lot of money at all though to feel like you are competitive, excluding if you aim at the top of leaderboards.

$100 is useful for getting extra builders early, which is the bottleneck at lower levels. You could also buy a built account, although that's against terms of service and you'd have to watch out for scammers, so there's some risk there. $100 won't get you far in terms of buying instant upgrades though. Maxing out a main base from nothing costs somewhere between $15-30k (the estimates I found were flawed or outdated and some didn't include walls which are fine a few levels less than max but ridiculously expensive so ???). The new builders base costs a few $k to max as well.

That being said most of the competition in the game is against players at your own level. If your goal is to rank on leaderboards you'll need a max base and probably a lot of $$$ on top of that to build armies faster. You'll need to have a solid TH8-TH9 base to get into most of the better war clans. But other than that your experience in the game isn't going to be much different no matter what level you're at. It's just a matter of attacking weak bases with weak armies or strong bases with strong armies.

Game is driving me nuts. Went out of town for a few days and now that I'm back I'm getting rocked on my builder base. Pretty crazy how a few days of upgrades will screw you for your cups. I've dropped down 300 or so and still struggling.

Doesn't help I'm rushing to th6 but yolo.

Upgrading to BH6 won't help for the 2 days your builder is tied up doing the upgrade but any time-frame longer than that and it's optimal. I mean what do you think is more beneficial, an extra 9 dps on a cannon or an entire extra crusher? There's no loot penalty like in the main base if you're BH6 attacking a BH5. I guess no one has proven you're more likely to match against your own BH level but all evidence so far points to it being linked only to trophy counts. I'm not sure what other argument there is for not rushing?

Yeah pretty much exactly what I was thinking. There's no reason not to rush at the moment.

Plus it seems like the witch is just way op.

I still have my old base and it's at the south side of the map (same as everyone else cause that was the easy side to clear). Got cleared by witches twice when they just spammed them into the top corner. Threw a couple bombs up there and now mass witch attacks end with like 10%.

Started searching around the top players (but not so high up where everyone hides their real base) and found this base a lot in the 4000+ cup range:



It's been getting me 60-70% 1*'s or 50% 2*'s at 3400 cups, much lower level defenses, small sample size. Clearly better than the modified BH5 base I put together though.

Yeah it's still holding up for me after a larger sample. Up to 3650 cups. I've been beating my clan mates up to copy this base at BH6 and the old one at BH5 and go straight for the most important upgrades. We're up to #550 global. Passed the original MEGA EMPIRE and just behind bonbee canada and templar knights. It doesn't look like any of them are focusing on crushing the BH but that's still good company to be in imo.

with the loot bonus no longer increasing after 3000 is there a benefit to having more than 3050 cups?

I'd want a little more buffer in case you start off with a string of losses when it's time to collect loot. 3050 could easily drop to 2990 before you get a win. But as far as current, tangible benefits go, that's the only consideration. You might want to push for pride or to ensure your targets are always challenging. Or looking to the future, an update could drop any day that not only extends the loot levels but also makes it harder to gain cups (+/-10 per attack instead of 30).

Ended up setting my bombs to air and putting them next to the small air defenses since they are pretty exposed and all my losses are against air.

Base is working wonders and all 4 of my accounts (fml) are going 3/3 or 3/4 almost every day and I don't even pay attention to what I'm doing when I attack: it's th 3 and 4 all over, I just drop my archers and hero.

Seems like 3000 cap is bound to get lifted soon, probably before th7 comes out. It's just too easy to get to 3000.

I haven't set bombs to air just because they don't do enough damage to really hurt baby drags and I get attacked much more often with barch than minions. Might readjust later.

Just watched a Galadon video where he admitted night witches aren't nearly as strong as everyone expected, certainly not worth spamming all witches. Baby drags + minions are king, maybe with 1-2 camps of witches. But that's at level 12. 12 is a big upgrade so I doubt they're worth much below that. My new recommended upgrade path is BD10->BM5->BD12->minions or BM10 (probably get minions going to a big upgrade then BM then finish off minions but my mini's are still level 1 so I dunno where to switch. Probably after one of the +2 unit/camp upgrades (6/10/12))

Baby dragons have their own frustrating AI. It seems completely random whether they'll go to the building you want or chase a barbarian from the guard post half way across the map. Pathing is also a bit strange but more predictable once you figure it out.
