Civilization V

The latest from Sid Meier is out this fall - Civilization V.

It has a totally new engine featuring a hexagonal world. Combat system is redisigned and diplomacy and religion apparently are reworked too.

I'm pretty excited to lose more months of my life to a Civ game

Re: Civilization V

Another 6 months, crap ...

I am pretty curious; but CIV 3 and 4 were disappointing.

To this day, CIV 2 is the best game ever made (if only the AI were a little better).

Re: Civilization V

I've never played a Civ-style game with a hex board.

What are the benefits of this over Civ's traditional style?

Re: Civilization V

Hated the combat system in Civ 4. If they make some major changes for the better to it, I might be in. But I'm very leery as of right now.

Re: Civilization V

I can already imagine the loading times after turn 200. 1 hour 25 minutes per turn

Re: Civilization V

Oh my. Just the other night, while playing Civ IV, was thinking "Man, it'd be great if they'd come out with a new one...." Had no idea one was in the works.

Re: Civilization V

Weeeeee, best game goes in the next round. yes.

Hex or not, i dont care tbh.

I want more science stuff to discover, because gameplay kinda sucks when reaching the future sciences. I'd like to have way more buildings and maybe a few more weapontypes.

Plus they should really fix some of the diplomacy stuff / bugs. (for example: getting minus points because of closed borders, even if you have them open since you met the other civ.)

I guess I wasn't clear.

HOW does this have a huge effect on battles? I'm not seeing the difference 2 fewer escape routes make.

Re: Civilization V

It will be easier to block reinforcements i guess, which delayed securing a city for quite a bit for me in Civ IV
