Got sick of getting killed by those dog-like monsters (the villagers are burning their dad after a successful w/v vote) at the top of the stairs. It wasn't so much that they suck as it just takes me forever to get back to them by picking the patrols apart one at a time. Decided to head down into the sewers and see where it goes. But before i get there, epic moment.

I decided not to kill the big guy that scarily bangs on door because he's not worth it for his paltry souls and ****ty loot. I kill the patrol and dogs up the stairs. I decide it's a good time to take a drink of water and I'm sitting there with just my right hand on the controller while I'm drinking water with my left. Suddenly, i hear a big scary footfalls/groaning sound that's coming right at me! My right thumb just happens to be on the O button and I panic press it to perform a perfectly timed backstep while the big guy goes flying by with an attack that he probably thought was gonna cave-in the side of my head. My left hand drops the glass of water onto my lap/couch and grabs the controller to perform a flawless victory over a pretty tough enemy. My heart is racing, my couch is soaked, and my shorts definitely only have water and not urine on them. Fromsoft.

Cathedral Ward in round area right outside the lamp, and wherever the long path takes you if you go right at the tippy top of cathedral ward and go all the way in that direction

WHERE THE **** THE BOSS IS? More specifically, how do I unlock the shortcut right by the lamp? I've unlocked two or three in the area and none of them are it. Jfkajfka;jfkajfaklfjkalf

In the building where you got the cannon, go to the bottom and go outside. Go across the bridge and one of the buildings has an elevator in it that goes up to open the door by the lamp.

lol found the boss and an elevator but still not the door. Weird.. You mean the elevator to the right of the one snake head guy down the stairs?

No. I still haven't figured out where that one goes. After you kill the guy at the bottom of the building, you go outside and you should find another elevator in a little shack out there. I can't remember exactly where it was, but it's not too far from the big building.
