I've seen some talk lately from people expressing disappointment in how "short" the game is, how "easy" most of the zones/bosses look, or how there isn't much to do.

Let's talk a little bit about Chalice dungeons.

There are four "types" of Chalice dungeons, determined by a prefix and basically hinting towards different areas and lore. Within each of these four types, you have a series of progressively difficult dungeons leading to final showdowns against some new bosses.

While Chalice Dungeons start off relatively simple and straightforward, there are some things to make note of.

First, Chalice Dungeons get hard. I'm not talking about mobs with 10x the normal HP hard, I'm talking about Bell Maidens summoning endless waves of spiders that can one shot you while giant blobs fall from the sky on your head as you try to run away. I'm talking about hallways and rooms boobytrapped from head to toe with spike traps and falling boulders. Enemies three times their normal size with faster move variants and additional special attacks that catch you off guard. Creature combinations encompassing all of your most dreaded areas and most dreaded enemies combined in to one force in the same room.

I'm talking real difficulty.

Second, there are rewards to Chalice Dungeons. There is more than just crafting materials to make more Chalice Dungeons involved. I managed to scoop up a brand new, awesome looking and decent statted full set of armor today after defeating one of the Chalice bosses. (Shown in the video below) Nowhere else will you find it but in that dungeon, baby.

Third and finally, bosses. You think the game lacks bosses? I fought through 11 new boss encounters tonight while running Chalice dungeons. Some were brand new enemies I'd never seen before. Some were new variants on larger enemies we see in our story playthrough. There were even a couple 3v1 fights. Further in, a couple fights were revisited - but when you fight the "same" boss... it's not the same at all.

Undead Giant in the first Chalice? Yeah, piece of cake. You're probably outleveling him tenfold. Undead Giant the second time you find him? Now he has huge chains that he swings around out of his back, and can literally one shot you on the spot. It's the same guy, but hardly the same fight.
There are even bosses in Chalice Dungeons that take story bosses and revamp them with new skins, more abilities, more hp/damage and more adds.

And before you think these bosses mere pushovers, or that they're phoned in scraps FROM slid in at the last second, let me reassure you: these are full fledged encounters, complete with their own soundtrack and everything.

And the best part?

Everything I just said, everything I just explained, all of the stuff I've done so far and enjoyed thoroughly... is merely the easiest first tier of Chalice Dungeon type out of the four.

That's just the amount required for you to be able to start playing the game. The rest of it downloads in the background. If you go to Bloodborne on the main screen > hit options button > information - it will show you how much is downloaded. Mine's done at 29.89GB now.

I bought a PS4 yesterday and pre-ordered a digital copy of Boodborne but it's not showing up in my library. Didn't get a redeem code for it or anything. Sup?

Did you preorder it on the website or on your PS4? If on your PS4, I think you might have to go to Bloodborne in the store, click on countdown to launch timer, and make sure you have the download automatically box checked. If you ordered it through the website on PC, you might have to check the download list or queue on the website and click "download to PS4."

I don't know why, but anything that I pick up through the website, like free PS+ games or whatever, doesn't get pushed to my PS4 until I manually go through that extra step. It seems like a pretty bad system.

It says it will show up in my library when it releases, I guess because I pre-ordered a digital copy in the store. Whatever, it shows up under reservations on the poweruprewards site so I won't burn their store down just yet.

Just did the digital preorder and started downloading, might just work from home Tuesday so I can get like 6 hours in tomorrow night and sleep in a bit. Sounds like it unlocks at 9pm Pacific for me.

Drove all the way to the ****ing Bronx to get a new in box PS4 Last of Us bundle for 350, and preordered the game on Amazon (but didn't pay the extra 3.50 for same day delivery, cuz **** the man) so I'm 425 deep, including highway robbery NYC tolls, for this damned game. It better be as great as I'm thinking it will be.

PSA for UK people - check your email. I found Sony offering £10 back for if you buy £50 PSN credit with Paypal yesterday, so that makes my choice super-easy. Buying digital from the UK store, will live with the delay for digital convenience especially with such savings

They were trying to sell me on Battlefield so I initially didn't pay much attention past the picture, almost missed out! But the offer is for generic PSN credit so works for anything.

It's also super annoying because once it goes to the background mode, it can no longer be paused. This is my main concern with it, but meh I'll just have to live with it lol. Pausing normal downloads only came fairly recently. My internet is unusual and has tight caps in office hours, and almost none outside of that. I absolutely do not want to be downloading 28 GB during the daytime! So I'll be hovering the icon to pause it at 4.9gb I guess, then try and grab the rest of it overnight on weds. if it doesn't make it, no internet on the PS4 until Thursday evening

There's been quite a lot of streams on the Live@Playstation thing whenever I've looked over the past few days, they've been getting "this broadcast is stopped" more quickly than girls flashing their tits tho lol.

If you're not attached to certain streamers or twitch in general, hitbox streams look much better. There have been a lot of Bloodborne streams over there and the difference is quality is surprising.
