Subject line pretty much says it all I guess. I only have limited online multiplayer experience, much of mine was played against local guys who were as bad as I was. This time around I'll be trying to play more online just for the convenience. So not really an SC noob, just know that my micro isnt the greatest but maybe I just need to practice the micro more?

zerg is the easiest in that aspect but you need to have really good macro since zerg relies on map control/out-resourcing their opponents.

imo:

zerg - macro++
protoss - micro++
terran - mix of both and the hardest race to play well (again IMO)

zerg definitely. just make sure to keep spawning larva with your queen everytime its up, and then everything else after that gets easier... (and also dont stop building workers+fighters).

I agree with Stake Monster but I'd say Protoss is harder to play well than Terran (turtling in and slowly expanding outwards is never horrible for a Terran imo and not that hard to pull off)

I think terran is the easiest to play with poor micro, but I think you could make a solid argument that its zerg.

In my opinion it is easier to play terran when you are new. Yes zerg micro might be easier (not really though, zergling + spine defense against early pushes is always hairy) but you end up with the larvae system which just adds another layer of complexity that i think might be too much unless you have a lot of RTS gamesense.
I play zerg and struggle so much because i will have too little army versus some push or way too much and a weak economy. You need insight in most push strategies to be able to balance your economy / army size as zerg.
If you play terran on the other hand you can wall-off and turtle, you can build economy and army size at the same time and you have less area to think about (1 base is easier to manage then zerg 3 base obv).

If you are new and bad at micro, I seriously recommend playing T and using bio. 1 base, Barracks x3 (marine marauders) + medivacs is pretty all-in style, but it's still really potent and the only stuff you have to do is attack-move and stim.

i think it really depends on the person. i play with a group of friends, and we have different opinions on which races are the most intuitive. i would play a few games with each race, rotating to the next until I got a good sense of which feels like the best fit.

As someone new to the RTS scene, Terran seemed like the most accessible for me. That said, I chose Toss. I've tried Zerg a few times and the Larvae system has me baffled.

having poor micro isn't reason enough to play zerg

You have to figure out what your player type is and if it's not zerg, work on your micro. It's kind of like asking "i'm not good at using pistols, which rifle should i use in an fps". You have to develop some skill : )

zerg is for the aggro imo who likes to just mobrape the other guy, cover the whole map, and enjoy the agi/speed that comes w/the race

I think this is actually the right answer, although I do appreciate all the input, even from those of you that didnt actually read my OP. SO I just have to figure out how to improve my micro. FWIW, my recollection from SC is that Zerg is probably the toughest to use if you arent that skilled. But I could be remembering wrong or SC2 might be different.

my micro's pretty bad but I'm decentish at macro and I've gotten to Platinum fairly easily. I tried protoss/terran but it feels to slow/clumsy for me to enjoy it, even though protoss is a bad ass race and terran has a pretty sweet track lol

Whenever I play terran, I have a hard time building SCVs, building an army, upgrading, and expanding. Sometimes I end up with too much money.

When I play zerg, I can do everything really easy.

Haven't played toss at all during beta/release.

Yeah Terran definitely have the biggest hurdle with Macro. Which is why I recommend 1 base 3rax play for noobs

Even in SC1 terran was the hardest race to play very well. Some opinions differ on this but to me it's definitely the case again in Sc2.

In the end no race is "easy" to play, the game is so deep and complex that you should really just pick the race you enjoy playing with the most.. the learning will come more naturally and faster then.

Sc2 is a bit like poker.. most people know basic stuff like builds or PF ranges but only a small percent are actually good. Playing at bronze is a bit like playing at 25nl.. there's some better than avg players but 98% of them have huge leaks.

What's the best way to switch between different screens (i.e. I'm microing a battle in villains base and want ot go back to my base to build a depot or something). I usually just double-tap my command center hotkey and scroll from there and to go back double-tap one of the army hotkeys but I'm not good at it at all

With expansions, do you bind each command center to a seperate hotkey or group them (because if grouped it's even harder to switch between expo-main-battle for example)

there's no way this is true. I played a diamond match just now as zerg and the Terran sat there hugging 1 base. He almost got me actually and then when I destroyed his force he "ran out of minerals, gg" and quit.

People make so many dumb mistakes or have such a bad idea of how to play

Yeah, I was just about to say the same thing. People aren't really that good at this game. The problem is probably that you just don't know what to look for to exploit.

Like, just because they know to do 8 pylon, 10 gate, 12 assimilator doesn't mean that they have the micro/macro needed to be good, it's probably similar to your skill level though.

i have no idea about build orders and stuff like that and i think i'm 6-3 in silver league (one loss shouldn't have happened, we traded bases and he destroyed my last structure right before i could destroy his )

hey that's impressive! I'd def be a bronze if I didn't read about preflop order. WarCraft 3 - same deal, I think it was tillerman actually (now poker player) who had a really strong orc build that would go straight to wyvern/shaman. I got such a high ranking for awhile when all I did was do copy that build order and dick around on maps.

I think this is a great comparison. I'm in bronze right now, though I'm at the top of my league. I know build order well and usually get through the startup flawlessly. I've been far too passive and I'm working on shaking that now. I'm trying to make myself use hotkeys more effectively instead of wasting so much time using the mouse. I'm definitely not good at micro game, but I'm not going to switch races from protoss because of that. I'll just have to continue playing and get better.
