Re: Battlefield Bad Company 2
i play death match on hardcore and basically treat it as my time to snipe because I never snipe in the real games. So, for that, its fun for me.

I like the neo2000 shotgun or w/e that looks funny, seems like easily the best shotgun?

I wonder what the reasoning was for the switch to talking only to your squad? Trying to make it so we really want to get good with 4 people? I like the way this game encourages teammwork much more than a lot of other games...in fact its my favorite part. I just wonder what the reasoning was for not being able to talk to the whole team?
Too much wild chatter ala MW2 with big groups is the main thing I can come up with. If you even have one dumbass singing and chanting racist homophobes crap in rush that's ruining it for all 12? If that is the reason then it is a necessary thing in my book. I rarely play this without my headset on and I rarely play MW2 WITH my headset on.

Re: Battlefield Bad Company 2
Most of the time on MW2 I just mute the entire lobby other than my friends. I really don't mind not being able to talk to everyone as I just play for fun. I don't need to try and coordinate an entire team who most likely doesn't care either. Go for the bomb, defuse the bomb when needed, run around like a chicken and kill people on the other team.
My biggest gripe is the 4 man squads. If I'm playing with 2 of my friends and someone else is playing with 2 other 2p2ers, then I really can't join in on it because we wouldn't all fit in a squad and I really don't want to leave my friends hanging.
BTW, won't be playing tonight. I have to work dayshift this weekend, which sucks hardcore, so I have to make sure I get to bed early tonight or I'll end up being tired all morning and most likely will just sleep in the station. hahahaha 2 more freakin' weeks to go.

Re: Battlefield Bad Company 2
What they should do is add proximity chat. Let me be able to hear/speak to anyone within 10-15', the only time I need to talk with randoms anyway is if I need med/ammo or am in a vehicle with them.

Re: Battlefield Bad Company 2
That's kind of a good idea, but at the same time how will you ever know if they are close enough? If I just want to talk to my friends, which we usually talk about random things or are goofing off, I don't want them to be able to hear what I have to say. Sometimes I bitch about how worthless the teammates are because they don't do anything sometimes.
I think if you are in a vehicle with someone you should be able to talk to them. If they jump out, then you can't talk to them anymore. At least that would be the first step.

Re: Battlefield Bad Company 2
ya, vehicle chat should be a definite thing.
Other than that, they should go back to the way it was in Battlefield 2 desert combat, as i've said a thousand times.

Re: Battlefield Bad Company 2
I've played like 40hrs so far with most being deathmatch, I actually enjoy it quite a bit
I've played a bit of MW2 and imo it's just too arcadey (?) for me, still fun though.
I'm probably going to start playing more conquest and rush though especially now that I have most stuff unlocked.

A program like this called Mumble already exists for PC gamers, it allows you to speak with any players (enemy or friendly). The intensity of your voice depends on your distance to the listener, and the sound is also directional (sounds to the listener to be coming from your location). So it's much more like real life, and much more useful than the VOIP currently available. It isn't integrated into any PC games, though, so its usefulness is limited. It shouldn't be too difficult for this to be added to the VOIP framework of console games though, IMO. It really would be useful.
BFBC2 should have two voice chat channels - global, locational channel as described above, and private squad chat as already exists.

For med/ammo/repairs, mouseover someone and hit Q/Back/select and you'll do an appropriate noise ('Hey, I need some ammo here' if you're aiming at an assault, 'Hey man, can you fix my ride?' if you're in a vehicle aiming at an engineer and so on). Doesn't help for yelling at the retard driving the tank, but it's something.

Re: Battlefield Bad Company 2
I had my best game last night.. 33-19 after only 1 day or so of playing this.. It was a freaking blast.. I killed them with every weapon I own.. I was a sniper doing work to the point I ran out of ammo.. I think I had 12 sniper kills alone..
Planting c4 on the tanks is el oh el..

I believe it signifies a higher skill level. Depending on how many kills you get with it, you get a star (plus more XP).
