I think you're just in love with the big numbers,

20% melee dmg reduction is worth more than 150 str/100 vit and 50 all res, which would be around the stat difference between a top str/vit/all res belt and a top string.

Other than that a good string can have like 100 life on hit, which is an extremely good stat, otherwise unavailable on belts (you can only get it on jewelry and weap) - having 1k-1.5k LoH is a life saver acts 3 and 4 inferno, and getting it along with attack speed on jewelry and weapons can become really expensive.

Re: Barbarian Thread

and what is arcane resistance :S

just the lasers? what else counts as arcane damage =/ yeah tried google no info out there srs

i guess its just the lasers right

"Arcane Enchanted - Monsters enchanted with Arcane Enchanted trait deal additional arcane damage, have more arcane resistance and have the ability to summon orbs which fire rotating arcane beams."

Does this mean we can only equip 1 legendary ring at a time? or only 1 of the same legendary. Cause I was hoping to use Justice lantern + band of fallen heroes

Re: Barbarian Thread

Legendaries are unique-equipped, so you can equip two different ones, but not two of the same name.

Nice. Figured it would be in the 25-30 mil range. Pretty sick.

Re: Barbarian Thread

There is increasing returns on straight damage reduction too. With 20% on the string already, teh 4% reduction from SS is a 5% reduction of melee dmg.

Despite its low level, I can't imagine a tank who doesn't go after a well roll string of ears. The hard part is getting the right stats and high rolls.

Hm.. read otherwise but I guess I was wrong.

Still, 20% reduction is a sick stat, way better than addition res/armor you get from even a good rare.

Re: Barbarian Thread

Obviously stacking helps. 80% -> 84% on already existing stat and adding a new 0% -> 20% stat are the same thing, both of them reduce the damage you take by 20%. Most of us already have high resistances and armor but none/low damage reduction. Allres/armor also get a bonus from warcry. That's why I don't think string of ears is really as awesome as some think. Obviously it's still the best possible damage mitigation for melee, but most important survivability for farming purposes is ability to survive elites, and a lot of elite damage is elemental (mortar, desecrate, molten, plague, arcane etc) even if they are melee units, and string doesn't help against them at all.

2 other things that are giving me problems in act 3 are lashers and heralds. Does lasher tongue count as melee? How about heralds' poison thingy?

Re: Barbarian Thread

Finally got Belial down solo on Inferno. Took me too long to figure out I could soak most of his poison damage and only had to worry about the poison explosions, which Ignore Pain is awesome for.

Followed it up with a 5NV solo and I think there is a slight glitch with Belial. If you equip your MF gear after you kill him but while his death animation is still running, it seems like you get the benefit of the MF with no risk.

Jumped into Act III and got smushed 10x before lighting a single bonfire. Back to the grind.

Re: Barbarian Thread

I had no (big) problems at the beginning of act 3, but had a nice little reality check right after entering the keep, running downwards (so lowest possible vision range) straight into 4 or so lashers and get bursted down within like 0.2 sec. On a ****ing tank ffs. For some comparison my DH can easily farm act 3 with 80% MF on gear, and the total cost of gear is probably less than a decent stormshield. For some reason barbarian is more fun, though. Hoping to make it into my main character at some point.

I guess the monk farming strategy for inferno also works for barb and will help me gear up for act 3 soon enough.
