Anyone in here solo Inferno pony level with a barb? I have heard from others that it's tough for a melee character bc the ponies hit very hard and have lots of HP, so I'm wondering if I should even bother to spend the gold to open it.

I'm ~ 20k dps, 900 all res, 55k hp, use a shield and have 46% block rate total, only 600 life on hit total-- would I get destroyed?

you should be fine, although i dont think pony is worth doing anymore

get on the AH and start looking for items with reduced level requirement by 9, and specify in the level section for minimum 60.

and you should pretty much crush for a minimal amount of gold. even 50k can improve your barb a lot if you pick a better weapon.

It's not worth it. You can do it. But since you'll need a tank spec to clear it, it's going to slow down your normal Act 1 farming run by enough that 3 ilvl63 pack are not worth it.

I just wasted 2 hours and 2 million gold crafting it yesterday after clearing Inferno last week and it's the worst investment I made in this game.

Just got this belt, have 800LOH and 8% lifesteal now, put it on d2jsp but I am realizing that I might want to keep it? Anyways check out the gg lamentation:

like i know whirlwind has like only about 15% of LoH per hit

All I know about lifesteal is that it becomes more beneficial the more dps you have, when I am fighting the green regen ticks are massive. I'm not even whirlwinding tho just a tank barb with 60kdps.

ok so I'm looking for some help to improve my barb so that I can rape Act 3. I've got a little bit of gold to play with now, not a ton, but I'd like to start moving from tank to dps. I've barely bought any items since 1.03. I need to work on just about everything, but can you guys help me prioritize what I should be working on first, and to what numbers I should be at? Most of my gear is str/vit/ar and I'm not sure how to prioritize crit %/crit dmg/ias/loh. Right now this is unbuffed with tough as nails, nerves of steel, and superstition.

Your resists are great. Normally you might want a bit more vit, but with resists that high you might not need it.

I'd prioritize getting a good LoH weapon and IAS. Given the high resists you might be able to dual wield and ditch the shield (two weapons with LoH ldo, and 15% IAS). Also get a helm with a socket, either for %life if you need it, or magic find.

After that deciding how to most efficiently raise your dps will depend on what you can get good deals on. To begin with prob high str items, but if you want to do WW/sprint crit chance is a must.

Honestly I think the biggest improvement you need is more str on your gear. I am running 1850/100 vit with similar resists.

Look for belt/chest/shoulders with high str/vit and %life, armor, all res etc.

If someone has a chest piece with 300+ str/vit combined/65+all res/3 sockets lemme know. Have a budget of around 100M to spend on a chest.

Does rend stack? If so, does bloodlust?

Rend does not stack. Each time you use it the timer is reset.

Lame. Not sure I'd like the skill even if it did stack; definitely don't like the skill without stacking.

Frustrating as hell. Just spent a bunch on new shoulders, still can't farm act 2 easily. Where should I be looking to improve?

Everything above is unbuffed. So I usually have the 20% armor, 50% resistance, and 25% damage bonuses active.

Ok thanks! I will work on those stats. One thing I don't get is how does Blizzard expect us to figure these kinds of things out? Do they anticipate forum talk and massive amounts of info-sharing? Or is there information that I'm not aware of? For example, all res vs armor, how am I to know which to boost, they both pretty much do the exact same thing...

yeah they do.

But warcry is a bit better % than your armor boosts.

so 1 all res is about 11 armor.

you should aim to have 9-10k armor and 900-1000 all res (both buffed, probably less armor like 8-9k if you dont use both armor passives like most people now). Obviously its possible and good to get even more but its far from necessary.


Hp isnt THAT important if youre really resistant, especially as I see you got enough life steal and LoH to sustain yourself.

So aim for about 50k hp as optimal. More is still good but not very important.


Now obviously your dps is pretty low, but thats pretty normal until you get godly gear+weapons with crit gear etc.

BUT, with that you should be able to do act 2 pretty easily and probably a3. Doing it faster will be another story and the next step if you feel like it xD.

ALso apparently block % is pretty important so if you got a low one try to look for shields with 20-29 block.
