Probably has been mentioned but make sure you stay low everytime you go near a settlement...
My experience from last night:
Found a badass M103 or some sniper rifle and tons of ammo randomly on the coast in a care package, while I'm derping with the inventory screen, I see someone coming out of the forest with an AK and starts strafing around pointing at me. I shot first then asked questions after he was dead, looted his bandages but couldn't carry his ak =(
I then continued north where I found another guy with a big ass backpack running towards a settlement. I hunted him for like 1 KM when he finally stopped to do something... BAM 1 shot, thanks for the big backpack bruh. This game is so ****ing cool.
In b4 I fall off a ladder and lose all that gear

do you want to provide your IRL location (by country is fine), game location, and maybe we can meet up at some point?
game gets so much easier when you are playing with others.
i specified IRL location because i'm not going to play in a laggy european server :/

Yes I am, died about 5 times since last post... I just keep aggroing the ****ers who are bent down derping themselves in the grass. I am glad you don't start with a makarov anymore but ****... Atleast let me swing my fists at the one zombie that I pull and makes me auto respawn. Crouch running hasn't been working as good as it was for me last night it seems lol.

i spent a **** ton of time in Elektro when i started. i did this because i am able to avoid zombies, i barely got any on me the whole time.
by doing that i picked up an Alice backpack, 2 handguns with ammo, watch, knife, compass, and then my shotgun. and then i got the **** outta there.
basically gear up in the city (you have nothing to lose at this point anyways), once you have enough gear to at least defend yourself, GTFO of dodge.
but this only works if you can manage to avoid zombies.
***from reading the forum: people are spawning in and losing all their gear. i'm going to avoid playing until the next fix is applied (there have been 3 patches today!)

Starting to get the hang of things finally.
Crawling round the city picking up ammo for every gun available, but no gun until I found a crappy Makarov pistol.
What does a watch do btw?
and how do you light up a flare? do u need some sort of lighting device?

you just don't light it because doing so will probably get you killed
(i think you switch to flare by pressing "F" and then chuck it (not 100% on this as i've never wanted to die so haven't used one yet)
the watch, this is going to blow your mind, it gives you the time.
