this game looks like a ton of fun. not sure if my computer can handle it but if it can i might have to go for it even though i havent played a pc game since age of empires 2

yeah, my desktop meets min requirements but i got red flags with my ATI 4800 hd whatever and my old ass OS
i'll prob still try it

That could be a bit laggy. I have Nvidia 9800 GTX+ and I set the options to low. Well the server does all the script work when playing online so fps is way better :P

just had some of the most fun ive had in this game
cliffs are picking up 50cals from the NWAF with someone else, then fixing a car to drive it around that same airfield. Then getting a squad of 5 to kill people in Stary only to get raped in the end by 2, maybe more people. Had every tool except the radio in the end.
also it's insane how fast you can get decent gear after respawning.

Where did you find it?
I server hopped about 20 servers in the barracks, found lots of akm, and diff m4s, but no sniper rifles.

Had fun for a few hours, kept finding decent to good gear and got sniped over and over, then stopped to read up on it, and I probably won't come back until they fix a lot of the issues. Having all the really good gear spawn in only a few places is silly, it should be entirely random, the current method is fun for geared groups that like to PVP or snipe camp popular spots, but having to deal with that to gear up is too frustrating for me.
Add to that the current method of picking a gear spawn point, and hopping servers until you find what you want or to ghost around and kill people is too rewarding for those types of players. I'm not really bothered by the other bugs since it's still in alpha, like breaking legs crawling around (had that happen) or graphics glitches or wonky animations, but the core game play right now doesn't really interest me.
Hopefully they can make us care about our characters more aside from getting the best guns/items in the game and holding on to them until you get sniped randomly. If you think about what a real post zombieocalpyse type world would be about, it wouldn't just be about finding and controlling resources like food/water and weapons, but banding together to survive against the infected. Making it revolve almost entirely around weapons (and NVGs) is the least interesting and most frustrating for the average player path they could take imo.
EDIT: was just thinking of things I'd like to see, and it would be cool if along with eating/drinking/healing, characters needed to sleep, and your character had to remain in game all the time. While right now you'd be safe from zombies out in the wilderness, you'd probably get run over by players. If they provided more baracks style buildings and compounds all over the map, groups could come together and protect each other. The more players you have, the safer you'd be, as people are constantly logging on and off or out doing other things, so players become living resources instead of pinatas. I think each group would need around 100-200 players to have a good chance of always having enough people around to guard the base, which is probably way beyond the limitations of the current game, but something to hope for if they decide to make a stand-alone game with control over the engine.

it was a UAZ in Vyshnoye with everything missing. took us i think 36 inventory slots worth of stuff to fix.
www.dayzdb.com/map has up-to-date spawnpoints for everything, i think.
or if you meant the 50cals, a downed chopper in the middle of the airfield.

Those of you tired of server hopping, ghosting, or hacking etc should come play on the server I'm on.
It's a private hive server, so you can't ghost or server hop to find loot, and it has active admins that perma-ban hackers and people who disconnect in PVP. Since it's private hive you wont start with all the **** you have but we're probably going to be doing a database reset anyway soon so it won't really matter.
Just to give you an idea about why a private hive is more fun I'll c/p the **** from the thread

Cheaters, well, we're running a second anticheat created by the same people that created the NON HIVE version, so that coupled with battleye should help. We're running their same banlist aswell.
While a hacker can log in and nuke/spawn ****/run havoc, we can do what other servers cannot. We can rollback. Yeehaw!

Here is a link to the server thread. We're running 1.7.2.3 currently but it's ridic easy to switch between it and .4. So far I'm have a ton more fun than I did on the main hive servers.

I think sniper rifles are best found at the barns, which are the big green circles at http://dayzdb.com/map. And next to that the crash sites.
You can also go into a busy server with an assault rifle and sneak up on a camping sniper on the hill NE of Elektro

you can only find the CZ550 in the barns, probably the worst sniper rifle (still very worthwile). you can get the better ones from deer stands and general military spawns (fire station, tents) but ive personally never found one there, ive always gotten mine from crashed helis and other players.

Just had an awesome day in DayZ. Found a bus with a friend, fixed it and drove around. Eventually we found 4 nice people who we gave a lift to northern map (feels good to help people instead of shoot them). Found a crash site with 2 AS50's and a FAL. my friend had no bullets for his AS50 so I lend him my FAL, 5 min later I check in my bag and the FAL is still there while my friend still has it too so it duplicated
The bus suddenly broke down missing 2 wheels so we went searching for wheels in Zelenogorsk. We found the wheels and wanted to go back to the bus but then we saw 2 people sitting in the mall. While they were running for their life I shot both of them like a boss.
Now we switched from the bus to an offroad car which we have set in a safe place so we can finally log out in 7:50 in the morning. gn 2p2
