Android games (and apps) thread

I couldn't find a droid thread, so here's one. I guess a lot of people's favourite games/apps will be duplicates of iphone ones, but I still thought this would be useful.

Games I've actually paid for:

They need to be fed. Awesome game, kind of a combo of Limbo and Mario Galaxy.

Reckless Racing. By far the best racing game I've tried on my phone (aside from on Onlive, but I'll get to that in a bit).

Humble bundle for android. Includes Anomaly, Edge, Osmos and World of Goo (if you pay higher than the average for the bundle. I haven't actually played these yet (apart from WoG on my PC), so can't comment on them. The games also come with a steam activation key. http://www.humblebundle.com/

Free games.

Kid mode. Probably the app that gets most use on my phone, it allows your kids to use your apps (that you've allowed them to), and more kids games in the app itself, without being able to get to the home screen. I can't overstate how brilliant this app is, any of you with kids get it now. There's a subscription which allows access to more e-books and stuff, but I just use the free version atm.

Then there's Slice It, Angry birds, paper toss, Hex defense, Wordfeud etc, but everyone probably already has those.

Apps.

2+2 app. You all use this already right?

Onlive. Having only used it once, this seems like it'll be the future of gaming to me. Basically it's Steam for your TV (and now phone), but the games run on Onlive's servers and they just stream the video to you. I had Dirt 3 running at near PC level graphics on my droid. Fairly uncontrollable without a pad though (I'm not sure if you can use the Onlive controller with your phone).

3DS buddy. Gives you virtual copies of the AR cards for the 3DS. Great for the kids to use, but they only seem to work in well lit conditions.

Google Sky. This just rocks. Point your phone at the sky and it tells you what stars/constellations you can see. I'm an amateur astronomer and love this (it also has a red mode to not destroy your night vision).

Invisibright. I use this every day, it allows you to set the screen brightness while in (almost) any app, really quickly.

Full Tilt Rush poker. I still have this installed, just in case.

That'll do for now, please share your best droid games and apps.

Free apps:
  • Chess.com app allows correspondence chess, blitz, 15/0, 10/0, tactics training and more.
  • Mint.com is a must for personal finance, joining all your financial accounts/investments/credit cards/loans/assets into one place.
  • Kayak is the best mobile orbitz/expedia/priceline type app I've found.

Paid:
  • Explosm! is Cyanide and Happiness' app. $1 for all their comics!

Re: Android games (and apps) thread

I think I've spent the most time playing Baseball Superstars 2011. 7 Words is a nice little word game. Cut The Rope is probably my favorite. Muffin King was fun for a little bit.

If you like Cut The Rope, check out Where's My Water. It's by Disney so it has their typical kiddie animation style, but the gameplay is solid.

SoundHound app is amazing. It will listen to a song and identify it for you. Took about five seconds to recognize songs when I tried it.

Re: Android games (and apps) thread

My most used apps are TweakDeck (twitter client), Doggcatcher (podcasts), NewsRob (RSS news reader that interfaces with Google Reader), Aldiko (book reader).

Games: Cut the rope, Wordfeud (Scrabble), Dragon Rush Pro, Osmos, Unblock Me.

If you like pictures of pretty girls, Bonjour Madame has an app with a new picture every day. Their site is http://bonjourmadame.fr (nsfw) and their pictures are generally very good, imo. But you have to download their app from their site. I don't know why it isn't on the Market. Ofc, you can also just browse to their site from your browser, but I like the app better.

Thanks for this. I'd been using Firefox mobile which is super slow. Just downloaded dolphin and it seems awesome.

Yeah the 2+2 app has it's quirks, and they still haven't fixed spoilers. Still better than on a browser though.

I'll try dolphin out, thx.
