Please spare me the typical xbox vs. ps3 debate; not even remotely interested.

Been thinking about biting the bullet and buying one of the new systems, almost did it over the holidays. The reason I didn't was simple: none of the available games I saw made me say "I have to play that!"

I'm sure some of you MGS fans will rise up in arms and lol at me, but I never really took to the MGS series. Don't get me wrong, it is obviously an amazing game and I probably will get it. That said, it is not the type of game that I attract to first.

That type of game(s) for me has been the Mass Effect series and football games. I LOVE futurism, that is one of the main things I look for in a game aside from a unique and thrilling story. If it wasn't for this, the Witcher3 would probably be the best game for me. ME3 had an amazing co-op multiplayer that I still fire up from time to time, and I loved the entire story (ME3 ending haters, PLEASE spare me. I asked nicely.) Needless to say, the next ME is the game I am really waiting for, but that is a ways away.

I guess it's part of growing older, but I'm just tired of the typical shooter games. Regardless of play style, I need something more dynamic and re-playable. Multiplayer is nice, but at the end of the day, I prefer a single player campaign that has a great story and can be approached in a number of different ways. Needless to say, the games I like most are futuristic RPG's with some cool classes.

Cliff Notes: Wondering what the best RPG's are, story and replayability included. Currently leaning towards Dragon Age

You are looking for amazing RPG titles to play but you are dismissing the consoles with amazing RPG games. Why aren't you even remotely interested? I do not get it.

4 different people post and not one game is suggested? I am seriously questioning the reading comprehension of the people on this forum...

when did I dismiss any console of any kind? please point that out to me? As far as I can see, I just asked for the kindness of avoiding a typical X vs. Y discussion.

I guess my original post was not specific enough. I want a good sense of the games available right now, while acknowledging the games coming out over the next year, relative to the fact that I am most interested in the Mass Effect series.

Have you played skyrim? Sort of the opposite of futuristic but hits your other criterion

yea I've tried it and it just doesn't do it for me. I'm not a big fan of sword gameplay, much prefer something like the Batman series if I'm going to play a melee style game

How can we recommend older games when you don't even mention what console(s) you own? So I made the assumption that you had none and were only interested in newer gen.

There are plenty of good Dragon Age games on the older gen consoles. Have you tried those? Dragon Age Origins and Dragon Age II.

I don't mean to be a dick but you simply aren't trying hard enough to find the games you want to play. There are an abundant amount of older gen RPGs that are very good. Why don't you do some research, read some in depth reviews, watch some gameplay videos, mark the games you're interested in, and post here about others' opinions about certain games.

It's MUCH easier to ask others 2 be your google.

and apparently, it's much easier to be an asshat than to give a simple recommendation!

Seriously, what have you accomplished by posting in this thread? This is how you like to spend your time?

When several people in less than 15 posts are confused about your OP, maybe the problem isn't everyone else.

an honest mistake, but you could have asked!

I haven't, but like I said earlier, I'm more into futuristic games. I have nothing against older gen games (I still play some) but I'm a bit more curious about the newer games. I can play all these Dragon Ages on a new console if I so desire, which is kind of why I didn't understand the reason you felt that a newer console would restrict the conversation

I don't agree with this because I have been doing all the above. I've skimmed through gamespot/ign, and watched some Let's Play vids. However, I don't have the time to spend hours researching video games that I may or may not want to play.

Hence the thread and the request for advice on anything you've played lately and found addicting in the light of a futuristic RPG. Internet forums are a funny thing; seems like people would rather argue and needle you as oppose to giving a simple answer

Thank you for the Dragon Age recommendation, I will likely give it a chance since it's a BioWare product.

Go check your first reply. You are not one of these confused people. Not sure why you are supporting them.

Also worth noting that any confusion is best alleviated by asking questions, not by being a douchebag.

Again, there's one prominent douchebag itt, and it's not other people.

No one else is being aggressively combative for no reason whatsoever.

I don't know what console/system you have. It's not hard to youtube each one for gameplay videos and it'll certainly not take hours to research video games. You have time to research for video games if you have time to play this type of video game.

Closest game to ME3 that's coming out soon is The Division. It may be more of a coop RPG shooter than a single campaign run through. Not sure. I haven't touched the beta or did thorough research on the game.

Perhaps not being a condescending ******* in every single post you make would garner more helpful responses. Kudos to anyone actually giving advice to this "asshat".

You'd probably like Deus Ex: Human Revolution but that's last generation; the new one is coming out in August on all consoles I believe. Same with Dead Space. Honestly not sure that the new-gen consoles have anything to offer you at the moment based on your criteria.

Smiglet, the new systems are Xbox One and PS4. Everyone is lolling at you because you opened with 'Xbox vs PS3' which are a decade old. You also mentioned you enjoy futuristic games but you're leaning towards dragon age.

PS4 has some fantastic exclusives like the Uncharted series, Journey, the Last of Us and Bloodborne.

Xboxone has its usual Halo stuff.

Alternatively, get a good PC and play Bioshock Infinite or XCOM 2.

if you care more about singleplayer gameplay and still have a ton of multiplayer options I think this is the console to go for Bayonetta 2 pbb the best game for it (haven't played unfortunately but I've heard it's the best)

I'm more of a PC gamer, steam/uplay/origin games are on sale constantly, you can buy fifa 16 for 15$ at the moment!!!, there is no point in buying the game for 60$ at your local gamestore anymore. You might have to upgrade your PC but if you play alot of games, the investment will pay back itself I'd say
