40" vs. 24"(2) Computer monitors
My eyes are getting bad since I'm trying to 12-18 table on a 14 inch laptop. My resources are limited and I need a new tv. Should I go for 40" computer monitor, not an lcd tv. get two different setups. If I get the two 24"s, I'll have to wait on the tv. I heard that refresh is not as fast, and it's too bright on a lcd tv to play poker on from such a close distance.
My eyes have gotten worse in the last month.

Re: 40" vs. 24"(2) Computer monitors
the 40" computer monitor is an LCD TV, not a monitor.
It's resolution is likely 1920x1080, which is slightly worse than most 24" screens

Why are the 30+" computer monitors at newegg so much more expensive than the tv lcd's?
Is a 52" at 1080p, two little reso for playing poker up close? That would be the best option for me.

They're more expensive, because their resolution is absolutely sick
I think the decision is more between 2 24s, or 1 30
Computing through a TV has never been good for me, the resolution always looks janky compared to how huge the TV is.

Well 30" monitors have 2560x1600 resolutions which is quite a bit higher than 1080p
If you have the viewing distance of a typical monitor (ie - ~3 ft), 52" and 1080p would not be comfortable.

that can't be it, the majority of the 30"+ lcd monitors on newegg have pathetic resolution compared to a 1080p tv
OP, large tvs make horrible monitors, two 24s (or 1 30") are a much better choice. a 30" monitor with 2560x1600 resolution will fit a hell of lot more poker tables on it than a 40" monitor with 1366x768 or a 52" 1080p tv

You're right, most of the monitors I just checked out that were ABOVE 30" had terrible resolutions.
just grab a 30" samsung or a few cheaper 24" ones, unless you're an OCD tile with no overlap freak you should be fine

Re: 40" vs. 24"(2) Computer monitors
The main thing is to make sure the height resolves to at least 1200. That's the size you need to fit two tables vertically without any overlap or anything cut off. Anything from a 21" monitor up will be fine and quite easy on the eyes for most people.
You make it sound like your distance is somehow fixed rather than flexible. That seems odd to me, especially since it sounds like you are on a laptop.
You might consider getting a separate, detached keyboard and mouse so you can sit pretty much however you like. My brother has one of those and he likes it a lot. He keeps his laptop up on his desk but uses a more comfy, movable mouse and keyboard. If it were me, I'd get myself a separate screen too, but he likes his screen. To each his own I guess.

i think the warranty may even be the same, or slightly less.
I recommend these to anyone who wants a 30.
I've had 4 of them, one of which was bad and they shipped a new one immed.
