re: uNL Collection of Study Groups

Hey guys,

Me and a friend are looking to build a small uNL 6-max study group for intelligent, hard working micro stakes players looking to progress to mid-stakes NL.

A little about us and our philosophies:

We are seemingly ideally placed on the poker ladder and have worked together over the past 2 months at 50NL, we are 25 and 26 years old, we sweat each other regularly and talk a ton about poker. We have both taken shots at 100NL, where he now plays regularly and I am back at 50NL after withdrawing a chunk of my BR. Theres a small gap between us now in terms of BR and stakes but I am working hard to catch back up.

We both feel like we have a lot to offer a 50NL reg that wants to learn to play poker well, not just grind out 20 tables for RB. We both feel its essential for our methods of learning that any interested players play a maximum of 4 tables, with 2 tables being ideal. It is our philosophy that learning to beat the game for exceptional winrate is far more valuable long term than breaking even grinding a bunch of tables and living off RB.

Most good coaches tell you that while starting off on the ladder it is far far better to play as few tables as possible so that you can really learn the fundamentals. Many "regs" end up being big headed and deluding themselves into thinking they are fundamentally sound when in reality they break even over a gazzillion hands and they think thats fine because of their RB earnings. Learn the game first, then you can add tables and really start to grind volume to earn good money!

So if you are not someone interested in playing 2 tables for short sessions and regular breaks and way more study time than playing time then turn away now. You are not what we are looking for, good luck with your chosen path. We are looking for like minded players that are really interested in learning this game and understand that even though they might currently beat 50NL, they certainly still have a ton to learn. If this is you, please read on.

What we can offer as a group(what you will be expected to replicate):

- Very active members
- Constant availability to discuss all things poker
- Sweat sessions
- HH reviews
- Watch training videos with peers and discuss
- Weekly presentations(presenter and subject chosen at random)
- Weekly group session review of another members play
- Weekly meet ups for general discussion
- Group coaching

We have a Ventrillo server that we will use for meet ups and sweat sessions as well as just a hang out for anyone wanting to do any kind of group study or poker related chat. We plan on making our own forum for HH and strategy discussion if this gets off the ground the way we want it to.

Ok so if you got this far I guess you think that Ive described you and you are interested in joining. If so please leave the following information in a PM to me:

Name:
Skype:
Age:
Location:
Stakes:
Hours/week you put into poker:
Number of hands/month you play:
Screen Names:
A brief history about your poker career so far:

We are looking ideally for between 3 and 6 people, ideally winning players at 25NL and 50NL who are looking to improve.

re: uNL Collection of Study Groups

I'm looking to join to study group, if anyone got a place for me, please send me PM(or reply here and i'll send you PM).
I used to play FR as a multi tabler "HUD bot". I decided I want to start play real poker so I moved to 6max and dropped back to 2 tables in 5NL(just to get a feel of the game).
I play around 3 hours daily and study(by reading books and analyzing hands) for 2-3 more. (i know its not a good balance but that's just for now).
I plan to move up to 10NL by the end of the month(already got the bankroll for it).

As i said, i'm looking for a serious study group.
Also, If someone looking for study parter, that's might be good option too. I currently mainly study from HOOCG and PNLH, so you should have those 2 books(and think they worth deep learning).

Thanks

re: uNL Collection of Study Groups

Just grinded $1.1 SNG's on Cake to sustain a BR for 4nl 6max. Currently only playing 4 tables at a time until I get back on my feet. I'm playing about 4 hours a day and reading 2+2 in between. I'm a sophomore in college and have nothing to do all day. Lookin to start climbing the ladder to ballin.

Looking for serious people to sweat, discuss HH, and just talk poker. PM me

A brief history about your poker career so far: I have been playing since 2008, have dabbled in all forms of holdem mostly in LHE venue ... most of my posts here are in the micro LHE forum. I want to switch to NL 6max. Anyway - I participated in Session Reviews in the uLHE forum. I have also had a dc membership but mostly just to watch the vids ... I got a lot of 6maxNL vids. Hey I think this is a great idea ... so LETS GOGOGOGOGOGO

A brief history about your poker career so far:
Hi all. I'm looking to join a group. I've recently started getting more serious about poker. Just been a casual player the past couple of years. Never reading books and just a little reading on the forums. Recently I started reading books and more of the COTW. I first started as a HU SNG player but now I'm pretty much a cash game player. I just bought a 30" just for poker! So yea I'm excited about the game and looking for people to learn from and work off of. I've been a small winning poker player. At full tilt, 70k hands in NL25 at 3.83 bb/100 and 20K hands at NL50 at 1.77 bb/100. PS different story, lol.

re: uNL Collection of Study Groups

Hello,

I am interested in participating in a uNL study group. I will post my information below; let me know how I should go about joining. Thanks.

Name: Greg
Skype Username: (can reveal to group)
Age: 29
Limits Played: 2NL - 5NL FR
Why you want to join our group: I used to play a lot of MTTs and SnGs ($20-100 BI) as a hobby with solid ROI, and occasionally sprinkled in some 100NL - 600NL (slightly better than breaking even, but with some huge leaks). However, I stopped playing poker for ~4 years to focus on my career. Now I am starting once again to play poker seriously, but this time I want to learn to play cash games well and grind my way up from 2NL / 5NL. I intend to spend ~20 hrs / week playing poker, maybe more.
