Here's my thoughts as to why -
If he's a good reg he'd know that players will rarely fold an overpair to this river bet at 5NL.
He'd first have to have a HUD and know OP is a solid player. Then we'd have to have a tiny 3bet range so that he could put us on an overpair (maybe the OP does, I don't know. OP what's your 3bet %?) and then he'd have to have the knowledge that we're not a typical player and are capable of folding in this spot. If he's done all that then kudos to him he deserves the pot. There's very few players that are that insightful at 5NL.
Overall it's just assuming too much that villain is a very good player using a HUD and has all this info and thought it through when the vast majority of players are either bad players, don't use HUDs or both.
