Hey guys

This is my first ever post.. I've read a lot of everyone elses but have never posted myself. I've decided using the $8 free cash I got from 888poker that I would try and grind it up through the stakes..

My history, I love playing tourneys but don't have the time or the skill it seems to do really well, always seem to get bust out just as it looks like I'm heading for a big score. Cash I seem to be OK at, and it seems to make a lot more sense to me. Anyways, I thought it would be cool if I posted hands in here and got some feedback.

I pretty much only play 6max, but sometimes FR. My starting roll was $2 (lol) and now I have it up to $10. Only have $1 on the table at a time and just want to grind it up through the levels.

Hopefully this thread will inspire someone, and will also help me to play well, as I know I will have to answer to everyone here!

Hand 1) BTN is tight so I would fold to the 3bet in general with 7c5c . Given BB called suppose overcalling is fine. Definitely don't like the stab OTT. You are in a multiway pot with nothing, not even a draw. I mean.. if you had 3c5c barreling turn and river would've been a lot better (and even then it's debatable) because you can fold out stuff like Tx hands or get there OTR.

Hand 2) Not sure if we should be betting this flop because we know so little about villain. As played river is a fold.

Try to focus on playing ABC poker, it's all you need to beat the nanostakes.

H1. Small gapper on SB is rather fold pre, when opened fold to BTN 3bet. Postflop be careful with bluffing two villains, select hands like KQ that at least has draw to nuts.

H2. Just check flop with SDvalue.

Thanks for the pointers guys. The first hand, I was going to fold if they other guy did, but once he called I thought I could take a flop. once they both checked the flop I'm pretty sure they missed because anything that hit it would have bet.. Maybe A10 and a weak jack sticks around? Once he flatted, I'm pretty sure his range consisted mainly of hands I could make fold like QK, Q9, AJ, AQ, 10x.. I think if SB had a jack he would bet the turn. That was my thinking anyways..

My advice: move from 888. You have to absolutly crush it to beat rake for much. Also stop making fancy plays and bet bet bet for value.

First hand the open is OK, it'd be better on the button though. Btn 3 bet is a snap fold imo, unless you have a read that BTN and BB are really easy to bully off the pot. Betting ott/r is... bold.

Second hand I think is mostly alright. I probably would have folded otr though

Yeah I think you guys are right.. I'm probably playing a bit too fancy and levelling myself. KISS - Keep it simple stupid! I'll try and play a bit more tighter and less LAG

What is the rake % at 888 compared to Stars?

Hand 1) You should be transparent and also more discipline with hand selection with just 10 buy-ins.

Hand 2) The same as above. You need to play this spot dozens if not hundres of times to asume that the villain is playing the way you think he or she is playing the hand.

I think you shuold play a very narrow range of hands in order to protect yourself from going broke.

Thanks for all the feedback so far. I'm going to tighten up my preflop range and play less aggressive with marginal holdings. I'm also going to play Stars more, and will leave my roll ($8.38 lol) on 888 for a rainy day.

This is a spot where I'm not sure if I should just call the flop OOP or if I should raise and try and take it away with a semi-bluff. I find these spots difficult to play.. I don't want to just call OOP, but I don't want to inflate the pot either..

Update: I've had a good few days so far with profit in every session.. I switched from 888 and now playing Pokerstars as you guys suggested. So far I'm up around 10 buy ins running about 1 buy in over EV.

Plan is to get to $150 and then switch to 5NL.

Not trying to be a dick but this would be a heater for Phil Ivey even at 2nl. Be ready for winrate to drop a bit. Also if you feel like your beating 2nl comfortably dont be scared to take a shot or two at ~$100 for 3 or 4 bi.

Minus the AK/AQ/AJ hands, I'm not really a fan of how you played these hands, given your bankroll has been in-between 5 and 20 2nl buy-ins. That's not to say you played the hands badly, but your bankroll just isn't big enough to absorb the variance that can occur with a looser style of play.

Also 3bet AK pre. There's no real reason to be flatting AKo in the BB.

Thanks for your feedback.. yeah I guess you're right. Have to reign in my natural tendency to be aggressive.

Re AK. I like to mix up flatting and 3betting. If I just 3 bet AK everytime, that's pretty exploitable right? With flatting, keep the pot small, and trap bigger hands like AJ, A10 etc which I crush, which might fold to a 3bet.. Plus hate playing big pots out of position, when villian flats 3bet pre in position and we whiff..
